I tried searching for the LotR Online thread, but the search is being wonky, and I don't feel like doing a page by page manual search. O Mighty Mods, feel free to merge this with the proper thread.

When I got my computer a few months back, I got a 14-day free trial of Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. I remember a bunch of you cool cats were playing it back when it first came out. Does anyone still play? Any suggestions on what server to sign up for or things like that?

I've never played an MMORPG before, and I'm only going to be playing this one for the two week trial, but I'm pretty excited. I'm on vacation tomorrow through Wednesday, so I'll be able to put in a good bit of time to get past the initial leveling.

I think I'm going to play as the wizard or whatever equivalent they have. In other games like Oblivion or Diablo, I typically play as the sword swinging type, and I'd like to give something else a whirl.

You finally decided to get an MMORPG and it's not City of Heroes?!

Sean, you disappoint me so!

Think of all the fun you're missing!

You can't blame your characters death on Gail in LotRO.
Teammates don't have to log because The Apocalypse has swim class on LotRO.
Nobody will refer to you as "Stinky" or "Mean" on LotRO.
Dance Party is totally out of the question as portable stereos aren't regularly equipped in LotRO.
Nor will there be discussions of how grammatically correct your battle cry is on LotRO.
You'll probably never utter the words "My head is in Tom's butt." playing LotRO.
You'll never understand just how worrisome the question "Where's Gail?" can really be on LotRO.

Just thought you should know.

Hey, if Dell had given me a free 14-day CoH demo then I would be all up ons. But alas, such is not the case.

And while I haven't played it yet, so I'm not sure if they have it or not, I would argue that you could do a pretty kicking Dance Party with a lute and pan pipes.
