What do you guys got? Can anyone recommend some really really great story arcs that have never, for whatever reason been collected in trade? I'm talking 2-6 issue arcs, not full creator runs ect. new or old, any character...
I saw something on g4tv about good one shots and such and this got me thinking. I've never been much of a back issue hunter but this could be fun.

Well the stuff that I am waiting for
Taskmaster mini should be collected
Korvac saga, Avengers Red Zone have been out of print for eons
I'm waiting on the Inhumans, Deathlock, Machine Man series from the 70's to be masterworked those are suppossed to be really good.
Starlin's Warlock and Captain Marvel are two series that get really good.
From the 90's Deadpool, Black Panther, Heroes for Hire, Thunderbolts, Alpha Flight and Spider-girl were all great reads and they aren't in print(or a good format).

Cosmos In Collision (Quasar #'s 19 - 25). The best in Marvel Cosmic...bar none.
Assault On Olympus (Avengers #'s 280 - 285, I think)...better than the Mansion Siege.

The thing is a lot of the stories I love were actually collected, but the trades tend to be rare.
Let me tell you, though, I was not happy about paying around $5 each for the Leonardi/Silverstri/Lee issues of Uncanny.

I'd love a collected Clone Saga. I don't care what anyone else thinks about it. It's what got me into comics, and it pisses me off that I don't have all of the issues.

Assault On Olympus.
That was a big favorite of mine when I was a kid. I didn't make much sense at first because I totally missed the story before when the Masters Of Evil raided the mansion and kicked everyone's ass. I ended up looking all over as a kid to find the issues before to help me understand what was going on with Hercules in it. Awesome story.

Starlin's Warlock was a really good run, reprinted twice in 6 issue minis. Never in a trade though. Marvel and Dc have been better in recent years, especially with Marvel flooding the trade market a couple years back. DC seems to be a lot slower on putting out trades than does Marvel.

Capwolf , best storyline everrr.....
If you want a storyline with plenty of guest stars , Iron man v.1 issue #301-306 - Deathlok , Venom , New Warriors , Thunderstrike , cap , hulk all appeared. First appearance of the hulkbuster armor appears in this storyline.
As mentioned , Quasar's cosmos in collision (19-25) with appearances by Squadron supreme , moondragon , maakari , Sersi , Dr. Strange , Fantastic four , ghost rider etc.
Moon Knight (early 90s) issue 19-21 - teamup with punisher and spider-man. A sequel to this storyline later happened in Amazing spider-man , that spider-man one was tradepaperback called Round robin : Sidekick's revenge.
From the same series , i loved Moon Knight issue 42 - a infinity war crossover. It was great , Moon Knight meets all his multiverse counterparts from the obvious batman comparison to space ghost.

Stern was just awesome on Avengers (with the exception of the Vision goes nuts plot).
I love it when Dane Whitman, scientist with a magic sword, faces down Zeus all by himself.
Great, great story.
Cosmos In Collision is even better, though...man I wish Marvel would let me give them my money for these trades.

Lots & lots of Mark Guenwald's Captain America. Especially the Streets of Poison arc.
There was a trade, but it's been out a print for a decade.
And mostly I want to see the more pricey stuff from the fifties that isn't easily accessable. Love to see more Joe Maneely stuff in print.

I'm mostly familiar with Spider-Man, so...
JM Dematteis's Spectacular Spider-Man
Roger Stern's Amazing Spider-Man
Marv Wolfman's return of the Burglar arc (Amazing Spider-Man #193-200)
Bill Mantlo's Doctor Octopus/ Owl war (Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man #72-79)
Aside from that...
Mark Greunwald's "Man Without a Country" Captain America mega-arc.
The majority of Priest's Black Panther

The Gatherers Saga from the Avengers. Proctor was a great baddie.
Starlin's Warlock and Captain Marvel are two series that get really good.
Although I would buy the Jim Starlin Adam Warlock TPB (Strange Tales #178-181, Warlock #9-15, The Avengers Annual #7 & Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2), Jim Starlin's Captain Marvel has been collected in TPB format in The Life & Death of Captain Marvel.

Dwayne McDuffie wants a Black Panther trade:
"This overlooked and underrated classic is arguably the most tightly written multi-part superhero epic ever. If you can get your hands on it (and where's that trade paperback collection, Marvel?), sit down and read the whole thing. It's damn-near flawless . . . "
-Wikipedia, also posted online at Duffie's website.
I'd second the Clone Saga. One of the issues of said arc was among the first I ever bought. In fact, I believe it was the first I had ever bought by myself.

You'd think a Moon Knight Classic would be a no-brainer. 4 or 5 sweet, sweet volumes.
They're coming out with a War Journal Classic, which is wonderful, but they should also come out with a Punisher Classic and a reprint of the Chicester/Janson story with Captain America.

Steve Gerber's Foolkiller
Mackie/Texeira Ghost Rider, there's a collection of the first sixe or seven issues but I'd like to see their whole run together spotlighted
I agree with the guy who wanted early 90's Moon Knight stuff too, in particular I'd love to see DeMaittas' Scarlet Redemption storyline again

The Serpent Crown Affair - Marvel Two in One 62, 63, 64.
If and when they ever do another Essential Marvel Two-in-One, its going to be one of the better books out there, including the Serpent Crown Affair, the Project Pegasus Saga (reprinted in a TPB in like the 80s, but not since), the Adam Warlock/High Evolutionary "Taking of Counter-Earth," a wonderfully drawn George Perez Impossible Man story from MTIO 60, a very fun Annihilus/Blastaar/Super-Adaptoid Avengers story from MTIO 75, and probably more I'm not thinking of (the first Maelstrom story, and Justice getting his superpowers pop to mind). But in answer to your question, that Serpent Crown Affair is just a great Marvel story for me.

Joe Kelly's Deadpool is definitely a glaring omission. Maybe since he's appearing in the Wolverine movie they'll release a TPB. I can hope.
Fabian Nicieza's Gambit is my choice. Along with all Busiek and Nicieza's Thunderbolts, there's a few TPBs but they only cover little bits of the series.

One of the reasons I said it. This story just deserves a reprint!
Moon Knight Classic TPB reprinting Moon Knight #1-38 (1980) series would be a good start.
I'm going with that. I didn't say any Moon Knight cause there was the essential a few months ago (or maybe a year?), but a masterworks or even better an omnibus would be great! Also I would like to see the two DeMatteis Ben Reilly minis, The Lost Years, and Redemption, but I seriously doubt it.

i think the Gambit may be collected....and Joe Kelly's deadpool is being collected.
There was a recent trade "deadpool classic" that contains all his major appearances (including his first appearance) up until the Kelly run and may even contain the first issue of the kelly run. I believe there will be subsequent volumes collecting the rest of the Kelly run under the 'deadpool classic' banner.

Doctor Strange #68-69 & #71-73 would be a good story to collect since it's about Clea vs Umar & Doctor Strange vs Umar. This also features the origin of Dormammu & Umar with Paul Smith art!

Yeah nice story eh? How about the Roger Stern stuff with marshall rogers brief stint as artist? Or those cool backup stories fleshing out the mythology of magic in the marvel universe and particularly the darkhold!
Come to mention it ive been reading the under-rated 'darkhold' series from the
90's, though Ive not managed to find them all knocking around yet that'd be good to have collcted, bet it wouldnt sell massively though.

Some of the midnight sons crossover storyline should be collected - the return of Zarathos , midnight massacre & siege of darkness.
Return of Zarathos is about 6 issues , midnight massacre is about 5-6 issues , siege of darkness is quite long , about 14-15 issues i think. (more if you include some outside titles that tie in like Silver Sable).

1. Any of the Roger Stern/Marshall Rogers/Paul Smith Dr. Strange stuff.
2. 70's Deathlok by Rich Buckler
3. Starlin's Warlock stuff - the fact that this hasn't been traded is a gross injustice.
4. Original Thunderbolts
5. Any of the Gruenwald Cap issues, especially the US Agent Cap story, the Ultimatum issues and any and every issue featuring the Serpent Society.
6. Roger Stern's Avengers, especially Unlimited Vision and Assault on Olympus
7. The Deflaco/Frenz Gang War story from Amazing Spider-Man
8. The Death of Jean DeWolffe and the follow-up Sin-Eater story published a few years later.
9. The Dematteis/Zeck Captain America run
10. Master of Kung-Fu
11. Black Panther Jungle Action stories by Don McGregor
12. Any Iron Man story by Michelinie/Layton that isn't Armour Wars or Demon in a Bottle
13. Stern's Amazing Spider-Man run with JRJR.

How about some of the marvel graphic novels series which were released straight to that format rather than being collections.
I was just mentioning the 'dr strange/ dr doom: triumph and torment' on another thread and it reminded me that some of these awesome stories haven't been re-printed yet and its a bloody shame.

Spectacular Spider-Man #178-184 The Child Within
That was a great story and probably one of the first thoughtful comics stories I read. I also liked everything of that run through issue #200: Vermin, Puma, Vulture, Professor Power and the death of Harry Osborn.
I'd also like the rest of Untold Tales of Spider-man. I'll second people who suggested runs on Avengers from the late 1980's and also New Warriors and Darkhawk. Also: Deadly Foes of Spider-man and Lethal Foes of Spider-man.
My personal Golden Age for comics was 1989-1993. That's when I bought everything I could find.
I know it's obscure but I loved Forces of Darkness/Forces of Light from New Warriors #32-34 and Annual #3. To this day the cover of New Warriors #34 is one of my favorites. I was 13 when that came out and I remember just being genuinely excited. Also The Hero Killers from the 1992 Spider-man and New Warriors Annuals.
