Robin Williams is in his late 50's and his career still continues to roll on. From playing psychopathic murders in "Insomnia" to playing a child trapped in a young man's body in "Jack". Williams has played nearly everything from Popeye to nearly doing the Riddler in Batman (a scheduling conflict made him back out and recommended Jim Carrey).
In the next 2 years Williams already has several more movies on his plate and in them he'll go from comedy with John Travolta (Old Hogs) to drama in "Shrink". One movie thats in developement with Williams is the "Prince of Providence" about Vincent A. "Buddy" Ciani who was the mayor of Providence and was like a rock n roll star !
Williams will always be known for his wild stand up act years ago. Even with him slowly getting older...Williams can still tear it up on standup and did it in 2004 on HBO.
So this thread is a tribute to Robin Williams. The comedian who always makes me laugh my ass off.

Robin's live show a few years back has one of my favorite bits ever:
Senator: Mr. Gates, do you admit that Microsoft is a monopoly?
Bill Gates: Monopoly's just a game, Senator; I'm trying to take over the fucking world.

I appreciate Robin at his best, but for me he started to pale a few years ago. His stand up stopped seeming original, in my mind, and his serious roles all started to blend together too.
Still, as a total body of work, he's got one of the best.

I guess I'll reconsider making the "Lester tribute thread" featuring Bree's cartoons

You're talking about the same man who wanted to turn CBR into a porn site called "Porn Book Resources"

I am.
This is a *good* thing. It means I get more laughs per day than my more selective counterparts.

In its entirity on youtube. Robin Williams on Whose Line Is It Anyway? (http://youtube.com/watch?v=nnAYOcTpKjg)
The amazing part was that the three regulars(Colin Mocharie, Wayne Brady and Ryan Stiles) held their own, and as a result, made the best episode of Whose Line ever.

My favorite moment was when Ryan and Robin did 'Famous movie scenes as performed by Carol Channing'.
"So you have to ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? Well, do you, punk?"
"Surely you must be the son of God!"
"I'm Spartacus!"

Robin Williams is good when he can turn his "persona" off. I have seen a few rare cases of this. I can't stand watching interviews and such with him, where he just has to go into his shtick.
I can't deny that he has done some funny stuff in the past, and I was ALL ABOUT Mork and Mindy when I was a kid. But, nowadays whenever I see him, he just irks me. He reminds me of an attention hungry, hairy little monkey man.
But that's just me:wink:

He doesn't hesitate in the least to be profane in this one but if that doesn't offend you, then you'll probably find it hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDQd49rEF_0 (Wait until he gets to the part about golf to judge it. I'd say that's the really funny part.)

I think that his shtick is the real Robin. He seems very insecure in not being this down to Earth guy. And that if he's not making ya laugh the entire way...you won't like him. I saw something he was doing for the BBC and he was trying to be serious and he just couldn't stop himself...he needed the laughs .

Whoa, I never knew he was on that show. I need to watch this.

Is that the debate on climate change or something? IIRC he was only there as a spectator when there was a fault which delayed the show. He went up to keep the crowd from getting restless I think, so it wasn't like he couldn't stick to a topic or anything.
But yeah, I still like the guy. He can be funny as hell, even if his more recent films haven't shown it.
