I was looking through my collection and I have marvel swimsuit from 92-95. and well its was fun way to show off how hot the characters can be and pose. I know, they are not real but so what. I dont mind seeing marvel do a revival and aritst like Steve McNiven, Olivier Coipel, Scot Eaton, Billy Tan, John Cassaday, Stefano Caselli, ect. I mean comon, wouldnt you want to see ms marvel, hawkeye(young avengers), hellcat, spider-woman, stature, nico, surge, and bunch of characters that new or didnt appeared in the 90s ones. heck, bring Mayday parker into this. sure bring on rouge, blackcat, mj, emma frost, phoenix, well you know what I mean.

I don't know. I mean it'd be nice to have one of those, but I'm not sure if it'd be profitable for Marvel.
Seriously in today's world after a few hours/days/weeks/months most if not practically every single one of those pin ups and pictures will be posted on the internet. And a lot of people won't bother to buy the actual book because it's so easy to find and access without paying. Many people will still buy it, but not enough.

Check through the this section of the forms, I started a thread on this a few months back, but the main point was to have frank cho do it.
That I think would in interesting, and would sell well.

*shrug* nothing is wrong with the occasional T&A.
And fanboys may have a bad name, but it will never be as bad as that of a furry, and that is all that matters.

Which you pretty much get every time there's a female character anyways.
I vote no. It was dumb then and it's dumb now.

They were dumb, but they were a fun kind of dumb.

I don't think it's a very good idea.
I'd buy it, of course.
Maybe 3 copies.
But still....

I think it could definitely be tongue-in-cheek. Have Galactus catching some sun on the beach, with Surfer having the arduous chore of rubbing suntan oil on the big guy's back. Dr. Doom building a sand castle, with Reed building a bigger one nearby. Foom with a giant fake shark-fin strapped to his back scaring swimmers. So on and so forth.

Im trying not sound like a horny loser about this but yeah those issues were kinda fun. kinda like the holiday issues. those issues were kinda fun but I still admit that rogue and jean both looked hot when the hilderbert brothers draws them in their bikinis. jusko mj and black cat was beautiful. I agree, frank cho would be perfect as well as dodson.
please dont think Im a loser. I love real girls even if I do occasionally go "wow, thats a well drawn psylocke" ahhhahahahhahahaha

Siberia is right though, it adds to the whole stereotype that comic readers are all sad, loveless males who would rather wank to a scantily clad illustration than leave their parent's basement and talk to a real girl.

Or at the very least, buy Playboy or search for internet porn
ahh...the good ole' crappy ideas of the 90's!! ;)
Though some still do it, like Fred Perry's Gold Digger. It's a horrible idea. I mean, they're basically in tight fitting outfits as is anyways, so it makes the idea of them in swimsuits creepy, unnecessary and a waste of time and energy.

If Marvel ever puts out another swimsuit issue, there should be only one man to draw it, and that man is Frank Cho.

My personal opinion is that swimsuit issues are about the worst thing ever to be put out by comic companies. Its hard enough to overcome the comic book geek stereotype without the companies feeding it. All these issues do is reinforce the idea that all comic fans are ugly, overweight males who like to masturbate to comic book images.

I can't agree more with this. Furthermore, Marvel has a lot more of it's line to worry about keeping fresh than wasting time, money and effort into something as silly and tasteless as drawn women in bikini's. Buy a sports illustrated and jerk off to the real thing.

No. They have a bad name because some people are judgmental and many of them lack self-respect.
I'd probably support a swimsuit issue. Heck, I'd probably support a Runaways, New X-Men, and/or Young Avengers Pajama Party Sleep-Over Extravaganza. There should probably be more to such an issue than pinups, though.

That.
It can be a great, fun concept if done right. More than just "T&A". Comic book fans have rarely, if ever, allowed the outside world to push us around. Screw'em. People hump the armrests for cheerleaders -- some just as fake as the comic book characters we read about! -- or some half-naked chick on the television.
Again, screw'em.

I workout in the gym, pretty fit body(got a little lazy so going back), have a healthy social life with the opposite sex and I collect comics and I have the swimsuit issues because of my younger days in the 90s. I still have fond memories and cant help but think its a entertaining concept. Sure I bet there are people who would mastubate but that didnt a occur to me when I was younger. I think why I didnt do to well socially in high school is more having to due being socially awkard and somewhat of a jerk, and I stop collecting comics back then so comic didnt really have anything to do with it. I did collect anime in place of it

I think the Marvel Universe in general could use more nudity. In regular issues though, not some kind of special issue

I would rather they just incorporate the cleavage and butt shots into the regular comic books in a mature and intelligent way that makes sense. Really, what superheroine wouldn't want to have a relaxing sponge bath with all of her female teammates immediately after a heated battle. Fighting Ultron is sweaty work.

I don't think a swimsuit issue adds to anyone's belief that comic readers are those overweight or geeky losers who can't get a real girl. I would say pretty much the swimsuit issues were not even known to those who are not comic readers.
I actually had this conversation with my husband about a month ago (yes I'm female) and I mentioned how I wished they would bring them back. Not for any kinky sexual reason... I loved the art. If my husband gets any sexual gratification out of seeing a comic character in a bikini than that is his business.
I say go for it, if the art is good and there are people wanting to buy it... why not?

What marvel should do is get real models that look like the heroines and make a swimsuit issue. Now that would be something interesting that they could market and it would sell. In fact it would be a fanboy's dream.

Agreed. It would be horrible in terms of how it would enhance the stereotype but it would sell like hotcakes. And it would still be a huge step above the comic images which are only slightly above yiff and furries.
And heck, get the right female actress / model and I might even be tempted to buy it.

You have major news anchors placed on looks. So I'm thinking this would only be fitting as the stereotype isn't going away regardless anyway. And I would have to seriously consider buying it (if the wife approved of course).

I doubt it. It might sell well, but it wouldn't help the reputation of Marvel or comic book fans.

I remember I got a couple packs of superhero cards made by Marvel back in the 90s, not sure if it was the swimsuit ones yall talk about, but it was their trading cards and my mom found them and made me toss out the ones with "hot looking characters" on them....
Wow it's more embarassing typing that out than I thought.

Somebody mentioned the term pin-up and that idea struck me. And I meant old time pin up models like Bettie Page and the like, a lot of people are trying to revive that. That could be really fun to do.
Come on, put Sue Storm in a retro dress leaning on the hood of a vintage car.
Cyclops with his hair greased back and a pack of smokes rolled up in his shirt sleeve.
(if the wife approved of course).
What???
What kind of relationship is that? Do you approve purchases your wife makes?
I'm shocked.
