We often joke about what a sadistic bastard the Silver Age Superman could sometimes be. Oh, he wasn't sadistic in the sense that he would slowly rip apart a villain from limb to limb, but one of his favorite punishments for villains, apparently, was to force them to marry all sorts of undesirable partners...from farm animals to strange space creatures to robots.

I've heard the joke (and laughed at it) pretty often, but to this day, I haven't read an actual Silver Age Superman story that depicted such a thing happening. Are there any particular issues or stories in which this actually happened?

LOL I haven't heard that one, but it's pretty hilarious.

All I've seen is the "Hates his friends, wants to spank everyone" Superman covers.

I think all of that was based on the covers, which were intended to be humorous and clever by reflecting the happenings in the story in an unlikely light. But wouldn't it be great if, in one of their 52 Universes, the version of Superman that one finds on Superdickery.com was canon? I'd demand an ongoing, with frequent crossovers, and follow it religiously.

As I recall most of those stories appeared in Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen comics...

Here's one of my favorites where Superman marries Jimmy to a gorilla...

I'd like to see Busiek's take on that!

I actually managed to get my hands on a copy of this at a recent NY Comic Con. It was a pretty fun read.

I can get into the details of it later.

I checked out Superdickery.com and didn't find any "strange marriage" covers, but this cover here had me rolling on the floor all night...

It wasn't the only one that had me laughing, but by far, it was the one that sent me rolling!

How DO these rumors get started...?

There was ONE cover in which Superman is supposedly forcing Jimmy Olsen (not a villain) to marry a gorilla. And one cover in which Lois Lane is marrying some super-villain against her will, and Superman is not doing anything to save her.
Like many Silver Age covers, these were deliberately intended to be outrageous, but there was always a (moderately) reasonable explanation in the story itself.

AFAIK, that's it. Any idea that this was something Superman did on a regular basis is strictly exaggeration.
