I prefer this team to what we got from Liefeld's published X-Force #1.

I would have expressed my concern about cable's pants. That looks extremely painful.

Looking back now, I rather like that team, but back then I probably would've acted just as disinterested as I did when I first heard of X-Force back in the day.

I'm ok with who got in. I don't think even more characters I liked should have been exposed to that art.

I would have thought that that is a funny looking group of kids then wondered where Jesse Bedlam was

What were we thinking back then?! I blame my generation for making Liefeld famous.

That said, the team itself would not have been that bad. Honestly, it's a downright powerful team. Much better choices than Feral, of course.

If Warlock gives it a thumbs up, so do I.

Remember when McFarlane inked Liefeld's X-stuff in the 80's?

It looked just like Art Adams 80's work.

Liefeld has drawn a few cool 80's X-covers with McFarlane on inks.

X-Force began with John Francis Moore for me, so I don't think it would have mattered much at all.

I probably would've liked it less though since I dislike Magma and I don't care much more Magik.

I actually like all these characters on some level.

Unfortunately, that image is a hate crime committed on my eyes by Liefeld, and you're an accomplice.

I love that splash. Always have loved it since way back in the early 90s before X-Force #1 ever came out. I remember really wishing to see X-Force metamorphose into that roster once the book got started. Dashed... :(

Why did we think that looked so cool when we were eleven? Those ankles, those hideously long legs and midget chests, those strangely elongated crotches with the weird bunching. Its just a mess.

EDIT: I still think Rictor is hot and I might have wanted to tap that mullet-y mess.

I think that would be an interesting team myself. Who was supposed to write it? Is that one of those strappy keyboard guitars that Cable's holding?

I don't think it would've gone over nearly as well as this current X-Force team has (or sold as well). Been there, done that, I think.

Still, despite the lack of ankles and strange anatomy, I remember that era fondly because I thought Cable was just about the coolest thing going in comics.

It is missing an integral part of the team. a.k.a. Dani Moonstar.

I want it on the record that I still can't get over these legs. Good God.

Personally wouldn't care much for the team. Oh well.

Wasn't that Skids, not Magma? Skids was a member of the New Mutants when Liefeld started. Then again...Magik is there, and she was long gone at that point.

I'm 90% sure that's meant to be Magma, not Skids. While you're right that Skids was being regularly featured in the book at the time (though separated from the rest of the NMs, as Freedom Force captured her and Rusty) and Amara had been written out, that just looks much more like Amara. Check out the hair, it has Amara's small wavy/curly type thing going -- Skids has straight hair.

I actually like this art for what it was. I mean, X-Force was aimed at kids and teens- and the crazy over the top art that Rob did was exactly what a book like this needed. I re-read these issues with fondness of because of what they meant to me at the time, regardless of the quality I see in them as an adult.
There is a reason adult books like Fell exist: for adults to read them. X-Force was a kids book- of course adults are going to dislike it. Ask a 12 year old today what he/she thinks of this drawing- betcha they think its as cool as we found it back then.

You are a very smart individual. Most people never understand things like that...at least not on comic book message boards.

To be fair, I read these books around the ages of 13-16. Give or take. On the other hand, I'm sure there were plenty of older individuals that also picked the book up and, at the time, liked the art.

Liefeld merely contributed to the "new" style, and rode that like a prostitute rides a fat businessman on payday--For all it's worth.

I dunno, I totally hated Liefeld when I was twelve. Especially after greatness like Sienkiewicz, Buscema, Davis, Adams, Guice, Leonardi, Leialoha, Blevins, etc.

I feel like this is an insult to kids and teenagers.

Ha ha- Leonardi and Buscema were some of the artists that as kids we didn't understand how/why they even got work! Haaaaaated Spider-man 3000 art back then (I think its great now). Couldn't stand the "simple" work of Buscema back then. Ha ha! We were kids. I also thought Transformers the Movie was the greatestwork to ever grace the silver screen back then.

That would have been a much better lineup for the original X-Force in my opinion. Less new characters, more fanfaves like Magma, Warlock, and Magik. I personally could have done without Feral, Warpath, Domino, and Shatterstar.

Oh, and that art...... YIKES!

Bwah ha hahahahaha, that just made me spit soda on my keyboard. Although, i'm not sure it's his pants so much as his legs, Cable needs to do legs when he goes to the gym, not just arms, but I guess some people never learn

Wow, it is wrong I just got the whole Jabberjaw/Josie and the Pussycats vibe with X-Force going around and solving mysteries plus playing as a band?
