I got this issue at my local store and loved it.
I´m sorry to hear Whedom will be leaving this title, but I am a huge fan of Warren Ellis as well, so I´ll try keep the mourning to a minimum. :) .

Anyway, the reason why I started this thread...

I have a doubt.
I´m not up to date with all the ins and outs of the MU, so I didn´t understand what happened with the "droolage".
I take it that it must be related to some mega-event presently unfolding on the MU (maybe the skrulls?), but does anyone know why suddenly all the superheroes that were summoned started daydreaming that they had stopped the giant bullet?

Yes...all superheroes have very huge egos, so they all imagined themselves stopping the bullet, without really paying attention to the crisis ar hand...it's all a part of the job!

For the straight answer...I believe it was an alien defence mechanism of the bullet, to prevent anyone from interferring with its objective.

That was probably part of the magical protection the bullet was supposed to have. It's a weak part of that issue, IMO.

Also, when you have a fairly simple question about the X-books there is a thread stickied at the top of the forum for that purpose you can use.

*Avoids commenting on Whedon's lackluster run*

But anyway... the whole drooling thing was the magical defenses of the bullet in action. Dr. Strange tried to magic it, and it rebounded and hit him. And then it caused him to blast everyone in the room. Keeping them distracted with their own fantasies of stopping the bullet to ensure that noone would actually be able to.

There's already been a big thread about it. A quick read thru the first couple pages would've probably answered any questions you had: http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=223340
