Me and the family just bought a Wii..any suggestions for cool things to try out? Currently, we have the basics Wii Sports, Wii Play and the Link zapper gun.

From an immediately accessible, family-based viewpoint, try Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox (http://youtube.com/watch?v=LT1RhN9UPrE) (YouTube video review at the link). I haven't tried it myself yet, but virtually EVERYONE says it's amazing, and the most fun game since Wii Sports. The game has very responsive controls and amazingly realistic physics. It looks very good.
Here's an especially good one: for $40, you can get one of the Wii's best-playing and best-looking games (and definitely a game that's only possible on Wii), Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7QC_88YezQM) (from Capcom, makers of Mega Man and Resident Evil). The wife and kids will love this one. It's a puzzle-solving point-and-click adventure game about pirates on a haunted island, where one person controls the character and everyone else controls onscreen cursors that they use to doodle onscreen, helping you to solve the puzzles. Whenever you use an item or interact with the environment, you go into a first-person view and pantomime the motion using the Wii remote -- shaking it side-to-side to saw through a tree, for example, or twirling it in circles to crank a wheel. It's a lot of fun, and as a person who loves comics you'd really appreciate the game's style. Click on the link to see the stunning trailer.
Of course, you can't do much better than Super Mario Galaxy (http://youtube.com/watch?v=GJx9DSJFvTU) (click and watch the trailer to have your mind blown). The game strikes a balance between "non-gamer games" and "gamer games," with pitch-perfect controls, inspired level design and, in my opinion, the best art direction in a game to date. The Wii is less powerful than the competition, but Galaxy looks just as good if not better than many 360 games. And the music... OH MY GOD THE MUSIC. The game is also one of the best of all time, if you look at Rotten Tomatoes-type sites like GameRankings.com.
I have many more suggestions if you want 'em. The Wii has a lot of good games at good prices. I love it!

Wpw, thanks Juno, those all look really cool..any of the superhero type games any good, like Hulk or Spider-man? I bought the Zapper cause i'm a sucker for the Medal of Honor games.

The Wii's way sweet. I suggest Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros: Brawl. I tried using the Link Zapper gun, it wasn't really working for me. Most of my games use the "A" button a lot, and the zapper made it hard to reach it.

I'm not sure about superhero games (generally speaking, there's not too many good ones out there on any systems), but if you love Medal of Honor, make sure the one you get is Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (http://wii.ign.com/articles/833/833766p1.html), because it has, among other features, some of the best first-person shooter controls on a console EVER, as well as other goodies like free online multiplayer (1-32 players) and an arcade mode perfect for the Zapper.
Remember -- the one you want is HEROES 2.
