This sounds.... GLORIOUS.
My Stormy, written by a writer who actually likes her?! Written as the kick-ass important woman that she is?! Written as a powerful yet loving person?! Am I hallucinating?!
Is it possible that after her character assassination in Crap Panther, she will finally see justice in being written correctly?!
He had that classic period where she was leader of the X-Men and she was incredible. She's the woman who took down Cyclops for leadership of the X-Men with no power! In the story with the Morlocks taking over for Callisto, [Storm] beat her in hand-to-hand combat. The greatest thing about Storm was of all the X-Men, her change when she came from Africa—from when Xavier picked her up in Africa like a goddess, and she really thought she was a Goddess, to where she is today, it was just amazing; to see her change and grow and become this incredible warrior. It was something.
At the same time, you saw her relationship with Kitty and Forge, and you really got to see the humanity in her, too. She was, in my opinion, one of the more fully realized characters in X-Men. We talk about this a lot in animation, and the biggest problem with Storm sometimes, and I think you see it in the movies too, is that sometimes people don't know what to do with her. Because she is kind of like that untouchable goddess, she's incredibly powerful but at the same time, she has a very specific power set. Claremont obviously had a great love for her, I've heard rumors that Warren Ellis has a great love for her and she's going to be showing up in Astonishing.
Yost actually seems to -know- her! This is too much for me to handle right now!

If anyone can make her kick ass and interesting, it would be Yost. Storm definitely wouldn't be my first choice for a mini series though!

Returning Storm to her former glory....I love it...ALL HAIL GODDESS STORM!!! Now if only she could get the "outback" team back together(though replace Havok with Jesse Bedlam:biggrin: )

Storm definitely wouldn't be my first choice for a mini series though!
Current day Storm definitely wouldn't be. She'd spend half the time on the phone with her hubby, waiting for him to come over and help her, or just reminding him how she misses him and loves him and can't be without him. And when she'd have to fight, she'd go: "But my powers don't work in [insert random environment here]!".
I just LOVE what Hudlin did to her. I love it so much, I, until very recently, made myself believe she had died just a few minutes before the wedding - and this is a skrull impersonating her.

This sounds awesome. I miss Storm.
Thanks Chris for bringing Storm back to a place of "cool-ness". Now if only we can permanently rescue her from Black Panther.
She didn't have a huge role in Messiah Complex and she hasn't really been a huge force in any of the X-Titles recently, so how is this going to bring her back into the fold?
YOST: The hard thing about Storm's position now, and she's feeling it, is that she's really torn between the two worlds, that's the title. I mean she's the queen of Wakanda, she's the former leader of the X-Men, a member of the X-Men; mutants are in the worst shape they've probably ever been in; so, she really feels the pull between her country and her husband, her team and her family and mutant-kind. This series is really about her defining who she is now. Is she the Black Panther's wife? Is she a member of the X-Men under Cyclops? Who and what is Storm?
Excellent. That's one thing about present day Storm that I really wanted to see addressed. Executing her official duties as a queen and being an active member of the X-Men has got to be difficult to pull off.

I hoped that she revealed as a Skrull in the final issue, and that it one of the leftovers from Secret Invasion.
I'd also like to see her relationship with Forge addressed - especially now that it appears Forge is about to go off the deep end.

This actually sounds cool. I'm happy for Chris, lol!
Yost is steadily gaining a strong fan base, starting from New X-Men to the stellar Secret Invasion YA/Runaways and now this, thanks to his real feel for characterization.
Once his storytelling abilities get stronger, I think he'll get bigger work at Marvel.

I guess I'll be in the minority here and say that I want her to stay married to T'charlie...and be queen of Wakanda...as far as story-telling goes, their marriage has a wealth of possibilities just based on the histories of the individuals themselves...if written well...
(dare I even hope that this mini would/could lead into Mr. Yost taking over the reins of BP?)
Taken from the article Mondo Marvel Panel (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080627-WWCMondoMvl.html)at Newsarama:
McCann then announced the release of a four-issue mini-series called Storm: Worlds Apart that will explore the duality of Ororo Munroe's life as wife of Black Panther and a member of the X-Men. The series is being written by Chris Yost. "For those of you wanting to get Storm get back to the X-Men," McCann said, this will be the "book for you."
"Storm kicks a lot of ass," McCann added.
Sounds better and better.

...not if you have an in-house long-distance teleporter...but seriously, if the x-team is based in San Fran, she is actually even closer to Wakanda (in terms of distance) than if they were still based in NY...and we all know Storm can jet-stream across the Pacific in minutes...AND T'Charlie is not without his hi-tech, super fast, fuel-efficient flying thingies...so THAT particular LDR could work.

I said it before, and I'll keep saying it until Marvel gets it. The BP/Storm marriage was a HUGE (not to mention, cliche) mistake just like the Spidey/MJ marriage was. I find it ironic that Quesada would approve the BP/Storm marriage, while at the same time trying to end the Peter/MJ marriage.
And don't get me started on how Marvel has pretty much gotten rid of MOST of the black characters of African descent in the X-books. Except for Storm and Darwin, MOST of the black mutant heroes of African descent have been either killed off, depowered, tossed into limbo,or turned evil. And before someone says that this has also happened to white mutants as well, I would like to point out that there are a hell of lot more white mutant characters then there are black mutant characters of African descent.
OMT, this book won't sell well.

Damnit, what Frog *obviously* meant was that Storm was "wasted" because Hudlin writes her badly.
Wolvie isn't written especially badly when he guest-stars. Most of the time it's just fine. Nothing earth-shattering, but nothing that should send fans into a rage. Thus why there was no 'wasted' comment.

I wont comment on the current direction of the thread..
However I will say that to those who made all those accusations of "Writer didn't like Storm, or didn't use her right, or didn't get Storm." Just because she was in another series for a while and in my honest opinion should still show up in said other book just as much as she shows up in any other book. You aren't said writer, and unless you can prove some of those claims with some translated brains scans or some recorded video and audio of Hudlin making such claims, I think it would be wise not to make such bold strokes when trying to paint the man.
Storm was great in Black Panther and I loved her interactions in it and would definitely like to see her continue doing as much in the future. I also didn't mind her appearances in X-Men either, but lets look back at some of those glorious recent appearances. In Giant Size Astonishing X-Men, her showing up was actually more a slap in the face, she had no real purpose and you could have inserted anyone in her place and it wouldn't have changed the story any. I mean they played her for the sap to the point that Spidey had to deck her in the face and tell her that she was dreaming of saving the world with a giant gust of wind. Yeah... I like my Storm with a little more common sense, she'd had realized that was impossible the moment it happened and rejected that hallucination.
What about her new costume design? Yeah because everyones just so happy with it, I mean its totally making Emma envious. I mean how was it put by a fellow poster? Hot Tranny Mess? ... yeah Storm gets so much respect and love in the X-Books can't wait to see her sleeping with a cow or dog in her up coming stint on Astonishing, I'm just waiting on pins and needles. I don't know what Yost is planning, but I'll check it out of course, if not for the sake of saying I at least gave it a try. On a whim in a related matter I went out and bought the X-Treme X-Men trade Prisoner of Fire... Yeah my first splash into that particular book which I dismissed before, and guess what.. to no surprise Storm wasn't really much of a character in that book either, when I finally did see her, she was being molested by Callisto as some apparent joke which was inspired by Ms Pryde, yeah not exactly the kind of thing you want to be remembered for or SO loved for. I mean it's not like she should be a respected character like Scott or anything, I mean its not like she can have a presence that god forbid people fear or love her for outside of being the butt of most jokes or anything.
Anyway, yeah put her back on the X-books, and keep her in the Black Panther books to, and make her join the Initiative while your at it as a ambassador to the United States/Spy for T'challa to while your at it. It doesn't hurt Wolverine that he appears in 3 to 4 titles a month, it shouldn't hurt her either.

Couldn't have said it better. I don't recall Storm being used to much or well before she and BP jumped the broom. I also don't remember a mandate that she could only appear in BP. A lot of heroes appear in multiple books and glad Yost wants to write about her.

Being in the Black Panther does hurt her. And it hurts me, too. Poor Ororo. Bad writing and bad relationships kill.

Yost makes me cream-pee! This sounds nang. Just as long as he reminds the artist for this mini that Ororo isn't mini, this time...
I think I'm at peace with 'Ro's marriage to T'Challa but, it does baffle me that people can think Hudlin writes (her) well. But then, people claim that Lost is a good programme. This world is a strange place.
Oh, c'mon people... sure those X-Factor previews are wtfugly but Stroman's BP Annual and "What if RAFOTSE was good" stuff was fan-fucking-tastic. The man can do epic and grace like few others.
I'm with you! The What If was beautiful (ha... what if RAFOTSE was good, and succinct), but he is a bit hit and miss.
Hoping for Marrow!!!!!
I love Wind Dancer loving Chris Yost!!! I'll definitely pick this up. I've been desperate to find a reason to love Storm again.

Sofia has similar powers to Storm.

I don't like to see Storm in Black Panther because the stories are crappy and the characterization makes her boring. As long as Hudlin is on the book I prefer her to be in X-Men. That's not going to change unless Hudlin's writing undergoes a dramatic seachange, which I do not anticipate happening.
Yost is a good writer. I will gladly buy his mini.

Jim Cheung's art is usually amazing, but it also has it's flaws. All of his characters seem to share the same face  I remember this Illuminati cover, where all the guys had the same face, only one time it would be bald, another one would have a mustach, or pointy ears, etc. It really bugged me out! I'm not sure it happens that much to his females, but still...
As for my artist of choice - it's a tie between Gabriele Dell'Otto and Marko Djurdjevic. Either one of them could do an amazing job, and if I'd had any say in Marvel, they'd be the artists for every book I read

That's it. Sheesh.
http://www.newwarriors.net/images/solicits/power_pack_vol1_hc.jpg
And for the record, I stated that it was the choice of certain writers and editors not to use Storm--because a fan said Hudlin had control over the characters usage. Which is not true to my knowledge.

For the record, you inserted Wolverine into a thread that has nothing to do with him because you have a hate-on for a fictional character. This thread is about Storm and how it appears she is finally to be rescued from inaccurate and unflattering portrayal of late due to fan demand. There's little point in trying to reason with you when you keep trying to derail the thread.
As for Power Pack, just about every issue includes a guest star. Get over it.

That's EXTERMELY presumptuous.
I am a Queen Ororo fan, there are just as many of "us" that hate her in X-men as there are of "you" that hate her in Black Panther.
The people that are salty at her X-showings of late (8 years) are Queen Ororo fans.
Those that love the "hot tranny mess" are the Storm "fans"
(term applied VERY loosely)
There's little point in trying to reason with you when you keep trying to derail the thread.

Brainchild - Savage Land fun maybe?

I'd like to see Queen Ro take on a derranged cult or group of some kind.
They could be fanaticle followers of an Ancient tribe who used to war with Storm's ancestors.
They could be gun runners and Mutant trapers.
Kahn could always reimerge.

What would BP do if he found out that Storm used to belong to Kahn's harem?
I think the editors realize that like Wolverine..Storm can be in multiple books. I noticed you didnt cite Wolverines numerous appearances in other titles as wasting Logan. Biased much???
Actually someone else brought up Wolverine, and said that every issue Wolverine stars in, he's written spot on. I think he inserted that image to prove them wrong.
Excelsior was the first to bring up Wolverine.
For the record,
I didn't know relevant comparisons were against the rules
Go figure.
What's relevant about it? I'm not talking about how many times Storm has appeared. I'm talking about mismanagement of her character.
That's EXTERMELY presumptuous.
I am a storm fan, there are just as many of "us" that hate her in X-men as there are of "you" that hate her in Black Panther.
The people that are salty at her X-showings of late (8 years) are Queen Ororo fans.
Those that love the "hot tranny mess" are the Storm "fans"
(term applied VERY loosely)
I find it hard to believe a Storm "fan" enjoys seeing her reduced to a trophy wife/doormat. And I much prefer to see Storm ill dressed than ill portrayed. I'll remain EXTERMELY[sic] presumptuous in my evaluation of Storm's situation.
Funny.
Were was all this talk of "derailment" when poeple were having a good time at Mr. Hudlin's expense?
What's THAT got to do with the thread topic
Nothing. I'm expressing my joy that a capable writer will be writing Storm.

I think the villain should be Storm's Syphallis acting up and causing chaos. She did go to Kahn's Harem, most likely wear she contracted it. It's an alien version I suspect. Callisto probably has it too from the hot tub they shared.
This series will feature BP's reaction to not being able to cure his wife of her horrible STD. and when the genital warts kick in they'll call Reed Richards or something. I'm excited about it.

Lets be friends Frog.
I really don't want to argue over good news.

Fair. What we have here is a difference of perspective.
While you maintain that her character is being wasted,
Excelsior maintains that it's all about the exposure (and says at some point that not all of Wolverine's guest appearances were handled spectacularly)
I find it hard to believe a Storm "fan" enjoys seeing her reduced to a trophy wife/doormat. And I much prefer to see Storm ill dressed than ill portrayed. I'll remain EXTERMELY[sic] presumptuous in my evaluation of Storm's situation.
Fair. To each their own.
I should probably clarify, I am a Queen Ororo fan.
This is Ororo, the character that's grown out of her "Given/Code" name of "Storm" and has come full circle into the mantle of Queen.
Don't be mad, Queen Ro has been more places and gotten more love since Mr. Hudlin saved her from X-land
Period.
Nothing. I'm expressing my joy that a capable writer will be writing Storm.
Is the expression of joy impotent without the expression of hate?
I don't want you to reply, I'm just saying.

Initiate his Counter Harem contegency plan Codenamed: "We got ALL the B!c#es Kahn aint shit"
While Kahn attempts to rest away T'challa's foundation, the King folds Kahn's house.
BATTLE OF THE PIMPS
Will Kahn's harrem choose up before Storm comes out of pocket?????
Stay tuned..................
Kahn: You can't be serious
BP: Sorry Kahn, baby, but you know the rules.
I mean your alien chicks chose me.

Storm rejected being called "Sistah" by Cecelia Reyes in Uncanny X-Men, I have a feeling she'd also object to being subjected to ghetto pimp slang from BP (Broken Propaganda).

Would want to see this instead.
Hence my Queen Ororo vs. Storm debate continues
I mean really, am I the ONLY person that sees this?

Personally, I think the ULTIMATE foil for Queen Ororo would be a Sister (biological or childhood friend) that is just as smart as Ro, would be able to pass as her given the right circumstances, is just as twisted as the Queen is kind, As hurt as the Queen is loved, and would weild all the power of Ro's Mystical Ancestors with FRIGHTENING precision.
This person is someone who would despise the Queen because of her gifts.
This would translate, not only into a pure hatred of Ororo, but of mutants in general as well.
This person would do ANYTHING, pay any price, to have the power to shame the assumed "Goddess".
This person would make alliences, back stab, use everything from paper to soul eating demons to see the Queen fall.
I would name her "Peace"
*Peace is a deceptive term, because there's always something moving just bellow the surface.

I think this is a brilliant concept...especially that last bit about wielding the mystical powers of the ancestors...as I have always liked the premise of a "Sorceress Storm"...I would love to see that aspect of her lineage explored even if it is done indirectly.

Each weekend (after a long Friday working 2 gigs) I clicked myspace.com blogs "My cup of Joe" to read information about the MU. As a BP fan and RH supporter it is always good to read the VP (viewpoint) of JQ, reporters and open minded people to appreciate and to acknowledge the hardwork R does 7 days a week for his work on BP and BET. I am looking forward to SD next month, if possible, to speak to JQ either one-on-one or during the panel discussion to thank him with his continue support of R, BP and "our" future BP animated series. I met Alex Alonzo LY, I hope to meet him again TY and let him know also.
IMO, everytime I read a article about BP (current or past) for the past 3 yrs one word I find consistently used by the writers....... "entertaining". How many times have anyone read an article about a comic and you will read how entertaining the comic presents by the writer...... R is a entertaining writer.
From my cup of Joe (06/27/08): http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=92159514&blogID=409802432
JM: Total switch-of-gears. Reginald Hudlin is finally taking a month off of Black Panther after 38 issues. To my mind the book has been damn entertaining throughout, and…it's his night job! The guy runs an entire freakin' TV network by day. How incredible a feat is this to your mind?
[b]JQ: Reggie, for lack of a better term, has been "The Man!" He's a real gamer, as we like to say. You'd think that running a TV network and writing a monthly comic would be a sure-fire recipe for burnout and infrequent shipping, but Reggie enjoys writing Black Panther so much, it doesn't feel like work to him.
There have been times when we've known Reggie was exhausted, as he does a tremendous amount of flying back and forth from East Coast to West, and we've offered to spot him an issue or two with a fill-in, but he doesn't want to be taken out of the lineup. In fact, those frequent cross-country flights are his delegated "Panther time," during which he lays down most of his scripts. That said, Reggie's finally taking a mini-hiatus during the "Secret Invasion" story arc so he could focus on BET's upcoming Black Panther cartoon and a huge story arc that we've got planned for early 2009. But he's just laying out for three issues, 39-41.
But I HAD to do it
