Not convinced yet that is Magneto. Seems like an odd action to trash a party in the one town that welcomes mutants, especially given his characterisation lately.
If Magneto sat around a table with Cyclops I'm fairly sure they'd actually come to an agreement on a strategy for the future of mutants given Cyclops penchant for taking out mutant haters permanently these days.
Heck i could see Magneto fitting in X-Force.

It just seems such an old school action on Magneto's part, attacking the x-men simply because.

But who knows maybe there's some grand plan in the making ...

With Mastermold and the Sentinels being involved, I'm sure that he and other party guests may turn out to be the X-Men like Sentinels that appeared way back in early Uncanny X-Men.

Armor was introduced by Whedon in the previous Astonishing run. She's quite the charming young lady and a promising character. I'm very pleased Ellis choose to keep her on the team.

Some of the dialog still feels weird, but I could get used to it. Bianchi's art is also going to take some time to get used to. I agree with you on the art. I love the layout of the pages and the detail but am not particularly enamored of the uniforms. However, I still say Beast's is an improvement.

Emma has always been snarky.

Cyclops is playing macho man.

Armor sounds like a teen girl mouthing off at an authority figure that she knows will know she doesn't really mean it. She also sounds like a typical teen in that's she's overly concerned about how cool she appears.

Beast sounds like he just enjoys giving as good as he got, but is gently trying to reassure Armor.

If I had a scanner I would. I don't believe I've seen it posted by anyone before. The design was made by Salvador Larroca and it says that they are in abandoned military bunkers in the cliffs over the Pacific Ocean and is protected by cloaking devices.

What really made me curious is that there are offices fo Scott, Emma and Xavier.

Why am I completely underwelmed by this art? ok 8 pages in not enough to judge a story or the writing, but it gives a good idea of the art. The Logan in the tree thing just looks wrong to me, and beast looks like his legs were replaced by large tree trunks.

Solid preview. The Emma and Scott relationship was made for writers like Ellis, Bianchi's art has the dark mood to it which also goes well with Ellis's writing, man I'm psyched.

If this book will be on par with Warren's Thunderbolts work or anywhere near that, I will be a pleased fan.
