Let's say DC decided to release a few more Greatest Batman character stories ever told books, for the following characters:

Batman

Dick Grayson

Barbara Gordon

Tim Drake

Joker (A newer version)

Riddler

Catwoman

Cassandra Cain

Penguin

Two-Face

Poison Ivy

Harley Quinn

Ra's Al Ghul

Anyone else?

Here are some of my picks:

Two-Face: The Long Haloween

Ra's Al Ghul: Son of the Demon, Birth of the Demon, Tower of Babel, Death and the Maidens, and the first Ra's Al Ghul storyline (can't remember the name). The one where he kidnaps Grayson.

Dick Grayson: His origin comics, his ascent into Robin, The Falling out, The founding of the Teen Titans, the issue where he becomes Nightwing, the Blockbuster Death storyline, his almost marriage to Starfire and his propsal to Barbara.

Barbara Gordon: Batgirl issue 1,

Riddler: End of Hush

Harley Quinn: Batman Adventures Mad Love, her origin issue in No Man's Land, anything in the DCAU comics.

Tim Drake: His origin, Identity Crisis, The recent Spoiler-returns issue, Detective Comics 826 (Joker's Christmas Slay-ride issue)

Unfortunately that's all I can come up with for now.

Anyone else want to try?

I think a "Greatest Robin Stories Ever Told" would have the legs (if you'll excuse the pun) but not each individual Robin.

Plus, these collections, by their nature, revolve around single issue stories.

What would be the point of buying a Greatest Two Face stories trade when all it contained was The Long Halloween?

Although the Ra's collection is a great idea.

There is a Rha's collection: Batman: Tales of the Demon. It includes issues #232, 235, 240, 242, 243 and 244 of Batman Comics, Detective Comics #411, 485, 489 and 490, and DC Special Series Volume 2 #15.
I know in the UK there was a special edition including "Son of the Demon".
And there is "Batman featuringTwo-Face & The Riddler", a compilation of stories with....guess who? It includes the first appearences of the two characters.

Nightwing: Brothers in Blood

Anyone who turns Jason Todd into a joke of a Octopus monster ought to be honored. The random, frequent and unapologetic sex scenes between Cheyenne and Dick is icing on top. Best romantic comedy ever

Poison Ivy

Neil Gaiman & Mark Buckingham's "Pavane" from Secret Origins #36, Detective Comics #693 & 694, NML's "Fruit Of The Earth" arc, Detective Comics #751 & 752, Batman: Gotham Adventures #53

Two-Face: Crime and Punishment, Two-Face Too (From Joker's Asylum), Two of a Kind, Eye of the Beholder, The Crimes of Two-Face/The Man Who Led a Double Life, Two-face: Year One.

Those mostly due to being only a few issues rather than long story arcs.

Well, I don't have any ideas, but I would like to point out that Batman has already had a "Greatest Stories Ever Told" book.

Poison Ivy

Detective Comics 534 & Batman 367, Green Ghost of Gotham, Brambles - Moench Newton Colan two-parter, the pre Crisis Ivy at her zenith, classic!
Secret Origins 36, Pavane - Neil Gaiman post Crisis origin
LotDK 41& 42, Hothouse - John Francis Moore gets to the heart of Ivy
Batman 529 - Contagion Tears of Blood, Moench & Kelly Jones, quintessential Ivy plot in a beautifully executed issue
Gotham Central 32 - Nature, Brubaker Lark - reveals her mothering side in a particularly chilling sequence, NML park era
Solo 6 - Poison, Jordie Benet Brian Azarello - this short is so awesome! a whimsical look at the eternal power play between man and woman
Detective 823 - Stalked, Paul Dini Joe Benitez -
Harley & Ivy 1 - Bosom Buddies, Dini Timm - Thelma and Louise on red bull and crack; the more straight up 'criminal' side of Ivy; representing her relationship with Harley which is also kinda significant

Of course I'd also include the NML 3-parter Leaves of Grass, but we're pretending this is a real release and my collection is already 9+ issues....  .

It would also be nice to have at least one Suicide Squad appearance, but there isn't really one that stands out self contained. John Ostrander really took the more pragmatic mercenary aspect of Ivy and ran with it. This was already established Pre-crisis with her involvement in the anti-JLA teams - her and Scarecrow actually founded the Secret Society of Villains together. It's also an element that is almost always ignored whenever Ivy appears within Batmans world. A pity, I think it makes her MUCH more interesting that the 2 dimensional eco-zealot.

Actually the most HORRIBLE and generic Ivy stories are usually about her trying to 'save plants'. They should bring back more the mercenary and human Ivy in Batman, then you're actually on the way to an interesting character. Jason Woodrue and Alan Moore showed how dumb the eco-terrorist angle was in Swamp Thing, and then there's always Ra's for that anyway, who has a much more thoughtful and interesting approach to it. None of these Ivy stories listed involve her 'saving plants' actually, far from it, and trust me, they're the best....

yah, full of crap stories too

I want to buy one of the Brubaker Catwoman trades. I've already read the 1st, dismissed Wild Ride and am wondering which is the best between Crooked Little Town and Relentless? Crooked Little Town has a Paul Pope issue but the other sounds slightly more intense and signifigant. Which has has the best Holly Selina scenes?
