Ray Palmer and other dangling plot points

So if Kamandi is now on "regular" Earth, and Darkseid's minions appear to be making the animal people who populate Kirby's Kamandi's world (or making Mr. Tawny into a Kamandi creature), and Earth 51 (Kamandi's world in COUNTDOWN) is destroyed, and what appears to be the Morticoccus virus is speeding toward Earth with Barry Allen in hot pursuit...

...where does that leave Ray Palmer? Is he still missing? Was he not really on Earth 52, as seen in COUNTDOWN? Is he now not responsible for taking the virus to Earth 51? If COUNTDOWN "didn't happen", did COUNTDOWN TO MYSTERY not happen? Does that mean Jean Loring is still Eclipso and not presumed dead as we last saw her?

Did Karate Kid carry the Morticoccus in him or not? Did his appearances in JLA, etc. not happen? Did he never come here from the future?

Is EVERYTHING from pre-FC #1 completely moot now? I just wish DC would come out and say that and move on already, a la BRAND NEW DAY, instead of claiming that COUNTDOWN and DOTNG still do matter. If they matter, they better explain how (as Morrison has no intention of doing so), or things will be much more confusing than ever.

- Multiverse. The Earth we saw turned into the Kamandi Earth in COUNTDOWN was just 1 of several. So it's ok, I think, if we get more than one Kamandi story being set up - as long as they're not on the same Earth. Which, in this case, they're not.

- Karate Kid is dead dead dead. Keith Giffen said so (he took the COUNTDOWN gig as long as they killed him - he hadn't been a fan of KK's since his LSH days). Since he was used in stories before COUNTDOWN (Meltzer's JLA and the JLA/JSA Lightning Saga) he definitely did show up on our Earth. And since KK infected the other Earth (which we saw become that Kamandi Earth) he still had the virus.

- Ray just showed up in ALL NEW ATOM, and will be part of James Robinson's new JLA book.

- Making sense of COUNTDOWN is just not really possible in all instances. Best to just ignore it (I know, it sucks; I spent all that money too so you're not alone) and pick up the pitchfork and join the rest of the "Just fire Didio already for this blunder" crowd... :tongue:
