If you have Mutants on the greatest superhero team "the Avengers" who are praised and loved by the human masses alongside thier SuperHuman counterparts, then whats the point of making a team of only mutants to change people's perception of them that they are all dangerous & a threat to the human race.
Dont the Avengers already prove to the masses that mutants & superhumans can work side by side for the benefit of mankind ? What's the point of either a mutant superhero team or working for the government type of team such as X-Factor (not including Peter David's current run), XSE & such ?

I've wondered the same thing. Avenger Beast was popular with the MU public; X-Man Beast was shunned.

I think you meant "Is there a...."

Actually, becasue of his Avengers stint, Beast has always received better press than many other mutants. He has regularly been shown as giving interviews, speaking at science conventions, etc. Not saying he is not shunned, but he is a media figure in the MU, and one of the few mutants who is.

When there's a mutant among the Avengers, that mutant member will usually be 'tolerated' by the public. It's one thing to have one or two mutants (the minority) among a group of baseline super-humans, another thing to have an entire team of mutants, founded by mutants, led by a mutant. Among the Avengers, perhaps, some people feel that the mutants would be 'regulated' by the non-mutant members. It makes them feel safer in their ignorant perception.

Most people will probably not even know that a certain hero is a mutant, as they might as well have gotten their powers via a serum or something.

Keep in mind that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were distrusted when they first joined the Avengers, and that this has been a reason for them to doubt their role on this team.

The POINT of an all-mutant team like the X-Men is that they directly address the problems mutants face. The Beast and Wonderman being best buddies and fighting alongside each other is not enough to convince all humans that they could live peacefully with mutants.

What's always bothered me is how a regular Joe on the street can tell the difference between a mutant and a meta human. I mean anytime in an X-Book some character uses his powers in public and the people around him are instantly "MUTANT! EW!" But in any other book, if say, an Inhuman uses his power in public, mutant isn't the first conclusion people will jump to.
