Which stories of the original Marvel Team-Up are ESSENTIAL Spider-Man stories. I know Jean DeWolff first appeared in the title, but are there any other issues or stories that are essential to the Spider-Man mythos?

Marvel Team Up #128 was the first encounter between Spider-Man and Vermin, so that's probably one of the most significant issues of the series.

Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know that. Can anyone tell me which issue of Marvel Team-Up featured the first apperance of Jean DeWolff?

Maybe not "essential" if you define that by milestone events, but Claremont and Byrne's issues were really good.

Issue 100 was Spider-Man vs the FF by Claremont and Frank Miller. It's the first appearance of the New Mutant Karma. It's pretty good, but dated. I'd call it a good one to collect.
All the Chris Claremont (writer) & John Byrne (penciler) specifically from Marvel Team-Up #59-70, Marvel Team-Up #79, & Marvel Team-Up #100 (the last Chris Claremont & John Byrne collaboration). The villains range from the first appearance of Arcade, the first modern appearance of Kulan Gath (outside of Conan the Barbarian), the first appearance of the demon, D'Spayer, the weird Equinox, the Living Pharoh/Living Monolith, the Super Skrull (favorite villain of John Byrne), Kraven the Hunter, plus various guest stars ranging from the Wasp & Yellowjacket, Tigra, Havok, Thor, the first American appearance of Captain Britain, Ms. Marvel I (Carol Danvers), the Daughters of the Dragon (Misty Knight & Colleen Wing), the Man-Thing, the first appearance of Karma, & the first meeting between Storm & Black Panther.

What i liked most about marvel team-up even though it had already been long gone before i started reading comics is that it would help highlight newly created characters. Sadly there isn't a place like that at marvel anymore. One of my favorite team up was between spidey and moon knight.

Every issue with Spider-Man as a major player in it (except maybe the one with Howard the Duck) is essential in the Spider-Man saga, especially if he remembers what happened in that issue in an issue of Amazing Spider-Man.
