You might be talking about JMS' "Digger" story.

It happened early on in his run, but after the Morlun story, and after the story where Aunt May finds out Peter is Spider-Man.

I didn't think it was one of the high points of his run, but it beats what happened later on.

Also, should I buy it?It's not the best parts of the JMS/Romita Jr. run but it has some of the best Peter/MJ moments and it's still good stuff so I'd give it a thumbs up.
