So, this is the second of these i've gotten in the last little while..is this new? Jonell, Alz, anyone?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hello there Mike Cross . . I am new to this forum and just wanted to say hello!

My name is Jane and I am a Mum of 2 lovely daughters. My main motivation for joining the forum was to share experiences with everyone and also be able to give and receive advice. For example, about 3 month ago I started an online business from home and I guess I was lucky as it has worked out great for me. In fact, I am now making more money then my hubby, lol. If you do something similar then I would also love to hear about it as my home business is now, after just 3 month of hard work, fully automated. I am currently searching for another opportunity for an online business, but have read on many other forums that there are many pitfalls. So if you already know of something that you could recommend to me, then I would be grateful for that. If you want to know what works so well for me then simply visit my site below. I am sincerely looking forward to hearing from you. If you have no experience in this yourself then please don?t worry about. Still get in touch with me, because as the old Irish saying goes a stranger is only a friend you haven?t yet met And if you too would like to earn a reliable income form home in your spare time then I can only reommend what I am using.

Warmest greetings,

Jane

I've gotten about a dozen of them. I figure it's just one of those things we'll have to deal with.

Spammers on message boards usually just post threads (which makes it easier to delete them and ban the spammer) but I guess now the new trend is to spam PMs. CBR mods need to nip this stuff in the bud before it gets out of hand.

I've gotten a bunch of them over the past several months.

Sheesh...
My box is still virgin. (please do not take this for a bad pun - or only if you'll be good with it.) Still I'm feeling lucky 'though.

But are you guys sure it's smelly-spam?
(just in case: Hi Jane. Cool that you have good pay, man! You stoked about the movie yet? You can bet I am, it's this August already!)

This has been going on for ages. All you can do about it is report it to one of the admins (only admins can ban accounts AFAIK) like Jonah Weiland (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/member.php?u=1) or Matt (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/member.php?u=147).

First take a look at the profile of the user who sent you the spam and make sure they haven't already been BANNED, as it will read in their user status.

If they're still live, click "Forward" and then in the "Recipients" field, start typing "Jonah" and you'll get a drop-down list of names starting with "Jonah" where you'll find his name. "Matt" is pretty easy. Make a note in the subject that it's spam. Send.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot they can do to stop this. If you haven't been getting PM spam it's probably because your user name isn't at the beginning, end or dead middle of the alphabet, which is where they start. As an "M" I get them with some regularity.

We sort of killed it on the Drawing Board by hand-approving each new member. Of course, that's probably impossible with CBR's membership. I could be wrong though..

... And this is why I'm glad I have PMs disabled.
