Well, the issue opens with Grodd holding Wally and Jay in the air controlling them, and letting them know what he wants each of them to do for him. Then he forced Spin to give hm the back story on his powers, or rather the little freak baby’s powers. It made it seem like Grodd was going to be featured a lot in the issue, but then Iris (now with super-speed) and the other kid (whose name is eluding me) showed up and beat the hell out of him, and that was the end of Grodd.
Then they went to go put out the fire at the Flash Museum and Wally was seemingly hell bent on saving Inertia from the burning museum. He gets him out, and then Jay warns Wally and his kid to brace themselves, as Iris seems to be aging again, or something.
All in all I thought the issue was pretty good. I’m enjoying the art well enough, and the writing has been pretty good. I especially liked the parts where Wally was acting excited for Iris, but in the thought bubbles he kept freaking out about how he’s lost more time with his little girl.
The title is worth picking up if you haven’t been.

Yeah, I couldn't figure out that last panel either. Maybe Iris' powers are changing again or going out of control ?

New villain origin...
Menace of Grodd...
We start to see how the twins' story interleaves with Bart's death and Wally's revenge on Inertia...
And plenty of super-speed action.
These last two issues really make me wish that Tom Peyer was staying on for more than one storyline.

I was half-expecting to see her with gray hair or something. I'm still not sure what they were trying to convey.

Do we have any info on who the new creative team is gonna be?

September solicits (http://speedforce.org/2008/06/flash-comics-for-september/) have Alan Burnett on #244 with art by Paco Diaz and Drew Geraci. No indication on how long they're going to be on, but the story is described as an "epic," so certainly more than one issue. Oh, and Brian Stelfreeze does the cover.

Sadly, this issue has convinced me to drop the Flash. :(
The last few issues have just felt uneven to me. Plus, I'm buying the book because I'm interested in the title character. Since the relaunch, this book hasn't been so much about the Flash as about, "The Flash and His Amazing Family & Friends!"
Solid issue. Hopefully there will be a twist that involves using Inertia's body to bring back Bart.

Really? This was Peyers best work by far. Loved it.
Grodd is such a badass. Glad to leave the stench of Salvation Run behind.

First time I've seen MiT. Is it meant to be a review, or just a blow-by-blow reveal of issue highlights?

She aged from a kid to a teenager, then from a teenager to an adult. Unfortunately the art isn't very good, so it's only really portrayed by her breasts getting bigger. Sigh.

Well, that is a sign of blossoming womanhood, so we can't really fault the guy for throwing that in there.

my guess is, Inertia is gonna be key in saving Iris from an early grave. Maybe he somehow absorbs her extra speed force energy, kickstarting his own powers and freeing himself from Wally's immobilisation.

It's a (mostly) weekly column highlighting The Flash, The Brave and the Bold, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, All New Atom (for one more issue :frown:) and Secret Six (eventually). It's not a review; I'm trying to be completely objective. And with these titles, that's not hard.

Wouldn't be surprised.

I believe Iris is a kid again, next issue. Check out the solicits and look at the cover. She's a kid being carried by Wally

That's not Iris; you can see her behind Wally. He's carrying the Nazme, the albino gorilla responsible for healing Grodd, and possibly the future body of the Ultra-Humanite.

Really loved this issue, it's a total shame that tom peyer is only writing six issues, freddie williams expressive art is a major pull for me on this title.
The Flash is rocking again IMHO.

Darn, its getting a new writer? I was really hoping the story was going to do something with Inertia, maybe have him be the key to saving curing Wally's kids aging problem.

It's still possible -- there are 2 more issues in this story arc, and the new writer doesn't come in until it's done.

Wow, they say that girls mature faster than boys, but the West kids are sure taking it to an extreme.
What really gets me is that Iris knew about the advanced aging and she's taking it in such stride. Wally's view is that she was just eager to grow up, but that doesn't seem like the kind of thing that could make a kid happy ab out aging at an accelerated rate. I mean, Jai freaked out about it. I'd like to get some insight into what's going through her head. I liked how her costume changed, though.
Anyway, it never struck me right now how oddly fitting Inertia's punishment was considering his name. Originally, it was just supposed to be the opposite of Impulse's (in physics, the impulse is the force that sets something in motion while inertia is what slows and eventually stops it). However, when I think about it, Wally's taking away all of Inertia's speed and paralyzing him there essentially rendered him . . . inert.

Nitpick: Inertia doesn't slow things down and stop them. Inertia is resistance to change in speed or direction. It's the principle of Newton's first law of motion: An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.
So barring gravity, air resistance, etc., if an object is already moving, inertia will keep it moving.
What usually slows things down is friction -- against air or water, against a surface, etc.
I liked the scene where Wally was trying to decide what to do with Inertia... The art was great, and conveyed the distress Wally was feeling at the time.
All in all I picked a great time to jump on this title. I hope the new team keeps up the momentum.

Woops. My bad. Someone on a message boards had to explain what Inertia's name meant when he first appeared years ago. I thought I had it down, but I guess I was wrong.

Gotta admit, I like it here much more than the official DC forum. No one has commented on Grodds interrogation of Spin, I thought it was funny, sort of "just the facts" don't care about your life story kind of attitude.
I am also wondering what thought command he entered in Jay and Wally's heads. I like the fact we saw it happen and not "after the fact". We know something is on the way, something Jay will regret.

Grodd is such a bad-ass, and I loved that scene.
And the DC Boards are heavily modded, low-trafficked propaganda pieces.

I enjoyed this issue, I liked that Peyer worked the Flash museum and Inertia into his storyline. Bringing in a classic villain like Gorilla Grodd further established a sense of familiarity. Peyer's arc is turning out to be quite entertaining, too bad he won't be staying on as the writer after Fast Money.

I know. He was the main reason I started reading it again.
