I think so for sure.

No definately not. Spiderman is being played as an isolated hero. As evidenced by both he and the FF being NY heroes but not interacting.

Much like the X-Men, Marvel Studios can't touch Spidey so he's pretty much out of the running along with any future cameos by him, The Punisher or The Fantastic Four.

Exactly. Just cause you own the characters doesn't mean you have the movie rights.

Definitely not. Marvel studios already went through hell to reacquire the license to use Venom for his solo movie.

Plus, it looks as if the roster will most likely only be the founding members of The Avengers.

In the first movie Spider-Man made a tongue in cheek reference to him not being the Thing. In the second Dr.Strange was considered for Doc.Ock's name but casually discarded. I can see Sony casually making a reference to the Avengers but only tongue in cheek. There ain't no way Spider-Man 's joining at the moment.

Spider-Man didn't mention The Thing. He was referring to the steel cage. He said, "Unlock the thing." in the script.

Nope he said, as the cage closed 'Im not the Thing.'

Look up the script and look at the subtitles on the DVD. It's actually a very common mistake.

"This is some kind of mistake. I didn't sign up for a cage match! Unlock the thing! Take the chain off !"

I just watched the Hulk movie and if they actually put hulk on the team, which after watching the movie seems 'feasibl' that'd rock. I bet we at least get a cameo of spiderman in costume.

The big three (Cap, Iron Man, Thor)
Probably Hulk, Antman(possibly Giant man) probably Wasp.
Nick Fury

Something similar to the Ultimates.

Don't quote me on this, but most likely Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man/Giant-Man, and Wasp. Maybe a semi intelligent Hulk as "Incredible Hulk" eluded to.

Dude sony is the most annoying greed bastards when it comes to proprietary rights, they OWN spider-man now, even the new spider-man cartoon is under their leash, the animation studio belongs to sony, and they have a say in the series, they are not going to drop that bone,or risk associating it with another series .

It's not going to happen for legal reasons.

And it probably shouldn't happen even if Marvel could do it, because it would require shoehorning Spider-Man into the Avengers Initiative story slowly being established in the Iron Man/ Hulk movies.

Not a chance, never.

First: Spider-Man is a loner
Second: Spider-Man has his own film series where he is in his prime glory before graduating college (Except that Spider-Man 3 is boring)
Third: The film will be as the Avengers originally assembled, Spider-Man never joined a team (in comics) before 2004 when he finally joined the New Avengers

From "Iron Man" we know Iron Man and Nick Fury for sure. Captain America was heavily alluded too in the Hulk, and the Hulk will almost certainly make an appearance.

Has Thor been confirmed?

I'd really like to see Hawkeye, too.

I imagine it'll be something along the lines of the following:

It'll be Ironman, for sure. From whats been bounded around, Caps film will be set in WW2, so I assume It'll end with him being frozen, so cap will be de-thawed in the Avengers film. Thor will be there. I haven't heard much about his film, but he'll be in there. They'll probably just introduce Giant Man in the Avengers film, as I don't think an ant man film will be too popular. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't just use the First Ultimates TPB as the basis for the film (without hippy Thor)

You're more likey to see a new DC movie come out that isn't Batman or Superman before you see Spider-Man being a part of an Avengers movie.

I don't think that Sony will let them do anything blatant such as using the Spider-man name or likeness but I'm sure, if they wanted to, Marvel could find a round about way of mentioning him. Maybe a reference to webbing or mentioning recruiting some kid from Queens. I know in 616 Spidey doesn't have any association with the Avengers for a while but after seeing Iron Man and, more specifically, Incredible Hulk I'm pretty sure that Marvel is basing their movies on the ultimate versions of the characters and in the ultimate versions Spidey meets Fury pretty early on. In the Hulk movie the Hulk is created the same way as he was in Ultimates (working on the Super Soldier formula and injecting himself instead of the explosion in 616), he is much less powerful than the 616 version like he is in the Ultimates (.50 caliber bullets seem to hurt him, 616 version can take nukes) and they even use the same method to force a transformation as Ultimates (tossing him out of an aircraft). So again, time frame wise, it is not out of the realm of possibility of referencing Spidey if they follow the ultimate universe.

Neither Spider-Man nor Wolverine CAN be in the movie, even if Marvel Studios wanted to use them.

Sony has the rights to Spider-Man, and are about to start on movie 4 and 5 together. They are not giving up those rights for many years to come.

Fox has Wolverine (the X-Men and Fantastic Four), with Wolverine, followed by Magneto and Young X-men coming out, they are not giving up those rights any time soon either. With Silver Surfer by Fox, the FF liscense isn't expiring either. Fox also has Daredevel and Elektra, but they might let those expire.

Punisher and Ghost Rider are also not able to be used by Marvel Studios, since they are liscensed out as well.

I'd like to see Black Panther fit into the line-up. Total super-spy.

i think he won't be on the team, but a cameo appearance would be great, but i guess even that is not possible.

I think a simple cameo is certainly possible. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", anyone?

That sucks. It's not really the Avengers without Ghost Rider.

I wish it would happen. With SM4 coming out before the Avengers you could have Stark or Fury at the end to link Spider-man to the Avengers. But since they couldnt even use the Daily Bugle in Daredevil its not going to happen.

latest issue of Total Film says that Stan Lee is considering it?! I was very suprised at this but TF knows its stuff so it could be a possibility?
