Veteran writer Fabian Nicieza (“Trinity”) is the new writer on “Robin,” beginning with #175, the first “Batman R.I.P.” tie-in issue. Nicieza revealed what he could about his run on the title and shared his admiration for Tim Drake and Chuck Dixon.

I will assure readers of two things: no one has more respect for what Chuck Dixon brought to this character than I do. And no one cares about the mantle of Robin more than I do. I have every single issue of ‘Robin’ and I have tremendous admiration for how Chuck developed Tim.

I think I'll rest easier tonight than I have for the past week.

Ah, excellent news - and just a week after Fab was telling me he was too busy for a regular book . . . I'm so pleased something freed up some space!

I think this is very good news all things considered.

Add me to the list that is very happy about this news. Best of luck to Fabian. I don't think the book could be in better hands.

I hope at some point Huntress will guest star. I had been hoping she'd show up in Dixon's run. I've always enjoyed the way he wrote their interaction. I think they had a cool big sister little brother type vibe. I love how Robin's always had faith in Huntress. That's a friendship I'd like to see more of not just in Robin .

While Chuck is a solid writer, Fabian has been one of my all time favorites since NEW WARRIORS. I can't wait to see what he'll do with Robin. Good show, DC.

I've enjoyed his Batman Confidential a lot.

I'm encouraged.

If it's not Chuck writing the series, Fabes would be up there among my top choices.

I want to know what this means for Stephanie. Will she be be backburnered or will Fabian run with this plot thread and continue to reintegrate her into the book?

When CBR News asked new “Robin” writer Fabian Nicieza (“Trinity”) if Tim Drake was going to be the Batman coming out of Grant Morrison’s bestselling DC Comics “R.I.P.” storyline, the veteran scribe responded, “Yes, of course he’s not, though maybe he will be, but won’t.”

LOL obviously.

This is very good news, I thought he was just doing some fill in stuff. If Nicieza turns out to be the ongoing writer, I'm actually really excited. I have a TON of respect for him.

Just this announcement alone will compel me to pick up a series I had zero interest prior  Great times ahead

I wish Fabe picked up some other book instead. I can't stand the character of Tim Drake. I'd love to read an ongoing by Fabe again, but Tim Drake is asking for too much. ;)

He said that Spoiler would be heavily involved which could be good. But then, she was also during Willingham's run.

Excellent news. Fabien is a great writer and Robin couldn't be in safer hands. I'll definitely be checking this out.

Nice to see Williams returning to the book as well.

I hope by "Anarchy" he actually means Anarky...! :) :D

“Plans aren’t finalized yet, but I know Spoiler will be very heavily involved in the proceedings, though how she plays into things will surprise people,” said Nicieza.

I hope this doesn't mean they're going to make her a villain or something.

OK, I think that the title fits perfectly for him, plus that means I'm staying!

It's really kinda sad that the Chuck Dixon issues will never see the light of day, but Fabian seems to be a good choice for someone to take up the reins on the book.

Hope we still get to see Steph around, though.

Yep, Tim Drake's great.
I like how in Young Justice, even though it was kind of a silly comic, he was still the straight man and had the same kind of pragmatic attitude that separates him from the other Titans (and most super sidekicks in general).
...Except that time in TT when he let Bart drive the Batmobile. That was a horrible idea.

While I still feel kinda bummed (especially since I was looking forward to the Cluemaster issue more than anything aside from the Robin/Spoiler special - if Didio had to screw up, couldn't it have been a bit later? T_T), I'm glad the book doesn't seem to become unreadable again.

I could live without seeing the General again though. Well, I guess every character can be used well, right?
And I'm not sure I want to be surprised by how they're gonna use Steph... *shrug*

Way to go Fabe!
I know this is one of your favorite characters. Rock 'em and have fun with your high flying new gig.

Yeah, now we just need YOU to draw the damn thing

Interesting. So who's on Flash art with Freddie Williams going back to Robin?

Hopefully, Spoiler is involved in a good way. Robin is very interesting when it's about Robin and Spoiler. Steph really keeps Tim on his toes.

Count me in with those encouraged by Nicieza's addition to the book. I've enjoyed his writing for years, and if we can't have Dixon, it may as well be him!

Fabian is an awesome writer but something that about to go down caused Dixon to be fired. Whatever it is, it isn't going to pretty and might cripple Nicieza's run.
