Help a Resurfacing GEEK!

hello all. i have a confession to make; i haven't picked up comic books in almost five years! I know, i know, its shameful. Its herecy. How can I claim to love what I do not read?! The truth is, i got to a point where i couldn't afford them anymore (wheather it was time or money) But now I desperately want to come back! (And no, its not due to the recent awesomeness that was THE HULK) The problem is, I have no idea where to begin. Before my slump I was constantly reading Marvel's Ultimate line (everything) and Astonishing X-Men, New Avengers and Powers. And then in DC i was picking up Green Lantern (post Rebirth) The Flash, JLA, Identity Crisis and then Y: The Last Man, Ex-Machina, Fables and a few others. But so many things have changed! I guess what I'm looking for is HELP! SUGGESTIONS! KNOWLEDGE! I need to know whats good, what suckss, whats AWESOME and whats unique. PLEASE TELL ME WHATS WORTH READING. The advantage for you? A feeling of good, that you have helped your fellow man.

All Star Superman is a great series 12 issues total, 11 out now. A must buy in my opinion, just a great entertaining series.

From most accounts the new Green Lantern (about 30 issues now?) has been very good. I haven't read it yet but plan on it.

Blue Beetle is one that is said to be pretty good, about 26(?) issues out now, i've only read the first 3 i picked up yesterday but they were solid.

I've heard that JSA has been pretty solid as well, and people have been in support of the Batman Detective comics. I have not read either of these either, just what i've heard from reading the forums. I am mostly a Marvel reader so that is just what i've heard about DC.


edit. Also I forgot, I've heard good things about "Trinity" the DC weekly series that is out now, it has just started so try to check that out too.

Blue Beetle is pretty much the only DC book I get now and it is probably one of the best books being put out.

Flash has gone through a rough patch the last few years, but it's picking up.

Fables is still worth reading, and is currently telling a major story. Let's just say: war against the Adversary.
