I just got into comics the last few weeks and have been primarily a Marvel reader. After checking out these forums the past few days I've decided to work on my DC collection a bit and would really like to start picking up the new Green Lantern series. Should I just start picking up back issues of the monthlies? Also are "Green Lantern: Reborn" and "The Sinestro Corps Wars" stand alone series, or are they part of the new monthlies being released. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm fairly new to alot of the comics out there too, but i've collected Green Lantern comics for some time. I found that the trades you can buy in stores are really helpful.

I'm just getting into Green Lantern myself, and everyone tells me to start with "Rebirth" then "No Fear," "Revenge of the Green Lanterns," "Wanted: Hal Jordan," and "Senestro Corps War." I've also heard that "Recharge" is helpful.
However, I've also heard of people starting at Sinestro Corps War. The current arc in Green Lantern is Hal Jordan's origin and it looks like a good jumping-on point.

You can start with Rebirth then jump to Sinestro Corps, you can then go back and pick up the monthly tpb like No Fear, Revenge Of the Green Lanterns, Wanted Hal Jordan. I'd suggest a new fan to jump in and get GL #28 it's the first part of Secret Origins which is the current storyline and it deals with Hal Jordan's orign. It features Sinestro and Atrocitus and has ties into The Blackest Night event that is happening next year, right now is probable the best time to jump in for a newby before all hell breaks loose by the end of the year.

Bear in mind that GL has always been one of the most continuity-laden comics that DC publishes. That's not a bad thing, mind you, but fair warning. As far as cosmic operas goes, you can't beat the Green Lantern Corps. Research is required, but its worth the read.

To be honest, I'd just read the quick wikipedia on Green Lantern and buy the Green Lantern Corps trades only. I'm not huge on the Green Lantern solo series overall, and it's very continuity-heavy, while the GL Corps stuff is pretty easy to pick up from scratch, although there are some older characters involved.

hey guys I didnt want to start a new thread so could someone tell me this, a power ring needs to bee recharged once every 24 hours, so with that said does this mean the ring has no limit until the time is up or is their a limit to how many things you can do before the charge is up?and one last questio whats the most powerful thing anyone has done with a GL wing and was it done by Kyle or Hal or someone else?
