1) Americans don´t use I.D. cards.
Judging by CSI shows, they use driver´s licenses insead.

But what if a guy sucks so badly behind the wheel he never got the driver´s license?
How does he prove his americaness?

So you do have id cards.

Yes. But even non-driver IDs are obtained through the department of motor vehicles.

So you do have id cards.

Yeah, it's just that if you have a driver's license, it's not deemed necessary to have the separate state ID.

So you do have id cards.

State ID, Driver's Licenses, Passports, Social Security cards. We have a bunch of ways to ID ourselves.

You just don't have to have any single one of them, or any of them at all if you don't really want to. But having one helps in the running of everyday life.

Like getting a job, apartment, and so forth. Well, "help" is too light a word. It's near impossible to do anything without one. You just don't HAVE to have one.

Seems an odd question to me, honestly.

We don't have national ID numbers, but we do have social security numbers, which are functionally the same thing even though the government said that they wouldn't be.

That's probably all you need to know about Americans.

Like the other folks said, we do have state ID Cards for those who don't drive, such as myself. Theres also military id cards for those in the service etc.

Most of the time we use them to prove our age however, not weather or not we're Americans, for that we use social security numbers, all though those are becoming more in more confidential due to fear of identity theft.

Yeah, it's just that if you have a driver's license, it's not deemed necessary to have the separate state ID.

In the state of virginia, if you have a drivers liscense they won't give you an ID card, and if you have an ID card you have to hand it in if you get your drivers liscense.

That in no way narrows it down.

Isabelle Huppert, Catherin Deneuve, and Fanny Ardant are the first three on my list.

That film made me very happy indeed.

All the better when you realize they were both once married to the same man.

Not in my house.

There's gum residue and dog poop and all that kind of good stuff outside that we'd just as soon not have on the carpets.

So we leave our shoes either in the garage or next to the front door, in the foyer.

Then again, we're Chinese and it seems to be a fairly common East Asian practice.

risk having to go for a tetanus shot if you step on a stray piece of rusty metal or
a sliver of broken glass that I missed. Or getting a nasty bruise from kicking the edge of a book shelf or base of a table. Considering how litigious most people are these days, it's pretty much a requirement to either wear shoes or sign a waiver before you come onto my property.

I kick mine off once I get through the door. I'm kind of a tomboy and prefer to be barefoot wherever the ground isn't really gross. There is a big ol' pile of shoes near the front entrance. You'd think we were Japanese.

Guests can keep their shoes on in my house, but I make fun of them if they do.
