Hey, I was just surfing the internet and came across this. Has anyone read this piece of Marvel and DC work? This must have been done in the 90s. And it had JRJr as the artist. I am not familiar with the writer though.
How was it ?

There were two of them I think.
"Lake Of Fire" was written by Denny O Neil (artist I forget) and it featrued Azrael as Batman vs Jigsaw and some other dude I forget. It had a Joker cameo which set up the next one written by Chuck Dixon and JR jr(draws a great Batman by the way).
In the last one, Punisher tries to kill the Joker, but Batman stops him which pisses off Frank who tries to punch Batman, but Bats takes him out. He tells him to get out of town. Frank tells him that the Joker and him desreve each other(in a way he's right).

That was the second of two Batman/Punisher/Punisher/Batman crossovers that appeared in the time of Knightfall.
The first one was written by Denny O'Neil with art by Barry Kitson. This one had AzBats as it's Batman since it accord during Knightfall.
The sequel was written by Chuck Dixon with art by John Romita, Jr., who had worked with Chuck before on Punisher:War Zone. This one happens after KnightsEnd with Bruce Wayne back as the Bat.
This was the first time JRJr had done any DC work, and it's really cool.
The second one is the better of the two. in my opinion.

the second one is quite cool, with Joker surrendering to Punisher asking to be taken into custody and then punisher putting the 45 in his temple, Joker puts a real scared face till Batman shows up and bails him. Might remember wrong but i dont think they go at each other there at the end, Frank just tells them "you deserve each other" line and walks off. They did go at each other previously near the start of the issue.
Both books were fun. But I really loved the confrontation with Punisher and Joker. That was cool.
Sort of makes me wish Frank had more rogues like that... the problem being that Frank inevitably has to kill his rogues.

Frank does take a swing at him at the end, but then Batman hands him his ass without breaking a sweat and tells him to get out of Gotham. Then Frank gets up, dusts himself off, and gives the "you two deserve each other" line.

I think one of my favorite parts was Joker psycho analyzing Batman to Frank.
He figured out something really terrible must have happened to him as a child, because of all the costumes and fancy toys was how a child might react.
Fun stuff.
The best part about them is that they play off each other. Unlike all the other Marvel/DC these are sequel to each other.

I enjoyed both of the crossovers, though I liked the second one more. And maybe part of the reason I liked the second one more than the first is because to this day I'm still not sure who the Batman was: Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson. The book never specifies, and at the time it was put out, Grayson was the Batman.

It went more like this
Frank does hit Bats in the face and Bats was like "I understand that you're mad so I'll let you have that one. Then Frank tries to hit him again then Bats catches his fist and throws him aside saying "I said one" or something like that.

I'd like to see it done again, but with the MAX Punisher and written by Ennis.

If it's done by Ennis, you'll have Batman beaten, bloodied and humiliated to the point where it's ridiculous.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually remembered how it happened, I was beginning to feel geeky.
I thought that was a cool line. "I let you have that one because you probably feel you deserve it."
It's always weird reading a Punisher crossover from the 90s. Because he teams up with a hero who's crazy-serious about preserving life (Batman, Spidey, Daredevil), and then the story ends with the hero giving him a lecture instead of trying to arrest him.
"Castle, I don't like that you constantly murder people, including the five guys I witnessed you killing two minutes ago. But I gotta take a leak, so you're off the hook for now. Get outta here before I change my mind."

I think that would depend on how much leeway Ennis is given to make Bats a bad@$$.

He did it with Spider-man and Wolverine, multiple times. I don't see why he wouldn't do it with Batman.

Yup. Which is also why The Boys is being published at Dynamite instead of WildStorm...

Also, Batman threaten to put Castle in Arkham Asylum. Now that would be a limited series I would like to read. Castle would have a field day in there. He would have killed half the inmates before lunch.

No, because they didn't like the way that Ennis was making the JLA/Titans type of heroes behave. They were loose stand-ins for Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc, and he had them behaving like celebrities. Sex-crazed, drug-crazed celebs. So, yeah, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't let Ennis mistreat Batman. Actually, he's been pretty fair to Batman in the past, considering the distaste he has for super-heroes (with the exception of Superman).

I love Punisher but the new movie looks awful it should be a film on TDKs scale but with Castles amazing arsenal of weaponry all on show and big sets and set pieces as Castle takes down yakuza and Mafia criminal empires not the crappy neon nightmare in the latest trailers:mad: . I could be totally wrong on this movie but i doubt it.

They've okayed Batman getting the bejezzus beat out of him many times before, even having his back broken and having him replaced. Really the only thing that makes me think they'd have problems with it this time would be that it's a Marvel character doing the beating.

Yeah, but it was because Batman punched him in the stomach, so it was kind of a wash.

Man this is just comic book fact BATMAN can beak anybody as long as he has at least 24 hours of prep time, If you went about it from how castle works he would learn the bats habits and most likely shoot him in the mouth from a sniper rifle, But then again because CASTLE would spend time learning his patterns he would learn he isnt somebody he needs to kill

good story overall, but I didn't like the ending, where batman more or less "allows" Punisher to deck him because bats let Joker escape..
I think Dixon clearly held up Batman as the superior fighter.. but anyway..
get Ennis to do a new version, I vote yes..
