Marvel.com: After "New Ways to Die" when's the next time we can look forward to seeing you on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN?

Dan Slott: Next up for me is a two-parter that features the return of [artist] Barry Kitson and a classic [Stan] Lee/[Steve] Ditko villain. And I'm super-excited about both. I'm a big fan Barry's art. And I love the classic villains. From the start of ["New Ways to Die"], we're opening the toy chest and pulling out all of the Spidey Rogues Gallery. This guy? He's been showing up since 1965—how's that for a clue—and I can't wait to get my mitts on him. This two-parter is also going to answer a lot of people's questions about Harry [Osborn's] return. You don't want to miss this one. It's only two issues, but a lot of important stuff is going to happen.

Ok so who are the supsects that could have been bothering spidey in 1965

Chameleon = Amazing Spider-Man #1 (March 1963)
Vulture "Adrian Toomes" = Amazing Spider-Man #2 (May 1963)
Terrible Tinkerer = Amazing Spider-Man #2 (May 1963)
Doctor Octopus = Amazing Spider-Man #3 (July 1963)
Sandmand = Amazing Spider-Man #4 (September 1963)
Lizard = Amazing Spider-Man #6 (November 1963)
Electro = Amazing Spider-Man #9 (February 1964)
The Enforcers = Amazing Spider-Man #10 (March 1964)
Mysterio = Amazing Spider-Man #13 (June 1964)
Green "Norman" Goblin = Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964)
Kraven the Hunter = Amazing Spider-Man #15 (August 1964)
Scorpion = Amazing Spider-Man #20 (January 1965)
Gaunt "Mendel Stromm" = Amazing Spider-Man #37 (June 1966)
Rhino = Amazing Spider-Man #41 (October 1966)
Shocker = Amazing Spider-Man #46 (March 1967)
Vulture "Blackie Drago" = Amazing Spider-Man #48 (May 1967)
Kingpin = Amazing Spider-Man #50 (July 1967)

given some of these guys are post 1965 but i went with a list of villains from the 60s (Did i miss some one?)

Whos your pick for whom it will be, My money is on Scorpion is no longer Venom and comes back to hurt spidey for taken that from him. But that may be too easy... Here's hopen for a good Mysterio tale.

I'm gonna bet the Scorpion returns.

Given how he phrased it, and assuming he's being specific, it's definitely the Scorpion.

Yeah, using 1965 (and based on this list) it's gotta be the return of Mac.

Though I think Dan does have a fondness for the Rhino (based on She-Hulk) so it may be him.

I just hope they can do for Spidey's classics what Johns did for the Flash villains... and that's make them ass kicking and relevant.

I'm going to go against the grain and bet the house and kids on Mysterio.

Yeah, its Mysterio.

It's probably Scorpian, but I'd love it if Dan chose Rhino.

He could be like an unstoppable force / Juggernaut like in the Spectacular Spider-Man.

What, you haven't seen the show? If you don't get the CW, break any law you must to lay your eyes on the superb show.

Plus, didn't the Shocker die in Fraction's Punisher: WJ?

He only got poisoned and got caught in an explosion. Happens to all those guys on a regular basis when Frank's not really in the mood.

Looooonnnnnng shots, but the Looter and the Molten Man were created about that time as well.

Edit: Oh wait. "Classic" villain. Probably not either of them.

And the Big Man was a Ditko. but he's too early. And dead.

I think Molten Man's a good guess.

If for no other reason than, being Liz Allen's brother, his return could shed some light on Harry's suddenly single status.

I would've thought Mysterio - Didn't they bring him back with like, half his head blown off? I don't remember the end to the story, so maybe they'l do something with him.

Ooh, another good link. Harry's back from the dead, and so is Mysterio. Kinda.

I'm praying Mysterio.

Quentin Beck was kind of indicated to be working for Mephisto in his last appearance in FSNM, so that could tie in...

Venom

My best bet is Mysterio. Marvel have confirmed that he's the only classic villain popping up soon after "New Ways To Die".

Rhino isn't 1st sketched by Ditko, Mark has reformed......

Shots are:
1* Scorpion
2* Spencer Smythe?? (deceased)
3* The cat Burglar (from Amazing Spider-Man #30)

The SCORPION is the best bet if it won't answer the return of Harry.
Mark Raxton reformed, but the best odds point at him

Slott might have mistaken the year, I saw in "Marvel Comics" site an upcoming story with the "Green Goblin", there's a cover for it by "Alex Ross" with the Goblin smirking like Joker.

That's if I'm not mistaken.

best part about spidey is there are so many great rogues to choose from. with none of the rogues appearing in such a long time thats not much of an obvious clue.

what issue is this villian supposed to return

You all do realize Scorpion is on the tbolts? Also he is the only venom right now to take on antivenom. See the solicits.

Has Mac ever been as interesting as he has been as Venom?

Shortly after New ways to die finishes. Slott says hes got a two parter coming up after that but there may be a one shot in between. Ill have to go back and read the interview again to be certain.

yeah but hes not scorpion and if say venom and he are split and scorpion returns to fight spidey its still a valid statement.

The villain is Mysterio. The Spidey office blog over at Marvel.com confirmed it. The story will feature Mysterio, Liz and Harry Osborn as well as the identity of the Spider Tracer killer....

What about the Big Man, the Crime Master, Blackie Drago, Lucky Lobo? Don't they count as villains? With Slott's knowledge of continuity he could use anyone.

It's got to be Mac.

He's always been more intresting as Scorpion than he has been as Venom.

lol i thought someone might mention them. the question is how many readers would be excited about those "classics" returning? Id like The Rose or The Blood Rose. (depending on what hes dressed for lol.) I enjoyed the old Web o Spidey books with him.
