Well, I subscribe AMZ from Marvel, straight 36 issues.
I think you do this because you want to find the exact sales number?

I pick the issues up from my LCS. Have thought about subscribing, but from hearing others, it just seems like the delivery date can be real iffy.
Plus, Comic Book Day (Wednesday), is a ritual for me. I pick up my comics, then I go have sushi by myself. Subscribing wouldn't be as fun.

I have switched to Mail Order Comics only because my LCS is no longer in business (sad to say)......the other LCS is not really that local for me so I started using MOC who, I must say, are excellent to do business with AND I save quite a bit of money each month. Only downside is getting comics a week or so after they hit the stands.

Buying it weekly because it reads well that way, I can keep up with the discussion, and I want to support the singles, and buying the trades because I ultimately prefer those, and I can pass the singles on to my niece.

Not a big fan of getting stuff off on the internet, when theres a choice, I'd rather just go get it myself.
And I buy singles, I like reading in small clusters rather than one hefty TPB, that and I could never wait.

I got to read the second part of the Gale/ Kitson story today as a result. Although the first part came two days late last week.
Still very much worth it, with the discount.

well its in no way accurate but so far the poll shows that of those buying 40% do it in ways other than the LCS. IF this poll were to remain that way after every Spidey fan took it..... That would be saying something.
I really wish Marvel would release its internal Subscription numbers. I have a feeling they are quite large in the case of ASM. (30% of those buying in this poll do it that way.)

I don't think I've bought more than 12 issues straight of any Marvel comic off the rack, ever. And I'm old.
I'll pick up an arc if it looks interesting - I bought the Marcos Martin drawn issues, and before that I bought the JMS New Avengers arc.

Sorry, I'm something of a poll Nazi....and the ulterior motive makes itself known. :wink:Ahhh, but you've yet to catch on to the far more sinister ulterior motives of his Amazing Spider-Man #562 Spoilers and Discussion Thread. seriously there is no science to this, im just curious of the people posting here how many subscribe and how many actually are counted in the monthly numbers. As i said one could state that if the market were just like here that a comparison could be made... but its a bit of a stretch.....
Just something to think about when posting about numbers.

There's lots of comics that are "in store only." So I go to the store on Wednesday to get those, and still save around $70 on ASM. In fact I subscribe to over 10 Marvel comics, so I'm saving several $100s per year.
Secret Invasion I get in store, The Twelve, etc.

I subscribe through Marvel. I started this when I moved to a small town with no LCS. One did open a little over a year ago now. I started shopping there. I found my wallet growing thin as I attempted to support them and had a comic store for the first time in two and a half years. There customer service was atrocious though. They missed monthlies I had not missed since their inception. I then asked why he had missed a book. He got mad and yelled at me about it. The next day I started my subscriptions up for about the same price as I was spending in there in a month. Saved me a ton of money in other words. I also don't have to worry about horrible customer service.

Fairly certain that you're locked in.Yeah, that would be a drawback for me, particularly when you take into account the changes which were made to ASM as a result of OMD. Not only did the story move in a direction I'm simply not enjoying, but suddenly I'm locked into buying three issues a month instead of one.
Provided that's how it works, of course.

apparently, and you have to go to the marvel boards to get this, They did allow for on the fly dropping in exchange for getting the rest of the issues subscribed in some other book. This stopped with BND on ASM due to the Thrice Monthly thing.
People got mad because they were locked in to BND when perviously in OMD they could have bailed.
I wonder if you did 1 year or 36 issues of ASM now if you could dump off to 3 monthly titles or if due to the reduced price of ASM when getting 36 issues, you are unable to cancel / change?
Makes sense that you couldnt if the savings is more than buying 3 12 month titles (cap, thor and iron man lets say.... Perhaps the combined savings of ASM is more than the total savings on those. Theyd be dumb to let you switch to get more money off on other books)

Yep. Would suck for you. I'm pretty much a perfect candidate for subscription considering I love the current direction an' all, and I'd save money, but I'm just wary of having to rely on them being shipped to me. When I go to the LCS, I know I'm getting it on the day it hits the shelves.

When the comic store I mentioned above opened I called and canceled all my subscriptions. They gave me my money back minus the books I had received. This was a little over a year ago now. Unless in that three months they changed something I would imagine that is still their policy. I have not seen anything to say differently in the last year.
Also although we did have the discussion before I'd say subscribing is a tricky thing. A lot truly depends on your mailman. My old address they were destroyed, new one not so bad. I subscribe to 5 books I believe. I would say in 12 issues of all those books one does get lost in the mail. As long as you catch it within a month they will send you new one. If you do not then they give you credit for that book.
Oh and when I get my books is up in the air. Sometimes I get them a week early others a week late. I would imagine this weeks issue of ASM will be in the mail today but their is always a chance I won't get it for a bit. For the money it is great though

I just subscribed to ASM. It is really, really cheaper for me that way (comics are already more expensive in the Netherlands because they're imported from the US). I save about 60 euros (93 dollar, but that's not comparable, since it's so low). I'll still go to my LCS, for the other titles I need to pick up.

Yeah. See, that doesn't work for me. The iffy delivery, that is. But I think it has more to do with my own impatience when it comes to getting my comics. Holidays forcing the comic books to come out on Thursday instead of Wednesday drives me absolutely batty. And that's just one day!

You know I always felt that way when I had a LCS. Once you don't you learn to live with it. Avoid spoilers and what not. I often don't get to comment in the issue threads, especially now with the three times a month. Sometimes I don't get them until the thread is slowing. When you look at how much money you save I think it makes more sense though.
