For the most part, there's really only one Spidey book left on the market in the mainstream MU - Amazing Spider-Man. They collapsed all the ancillary Spidey books into the main title a few months back. You're going to get some varying opinion as to their quality, as part of the title unification involved the controversial decision to magically retcon Parker's marriage to Mary Jane so that it never happened. Most people who don't mind that seem to have found the books good, if not great. People who can't get over it seem to prefer having fat men step on their testicles.

Amazing Spider-Man.

Start at #546 and go from there.

Or prefer to read intellgent and reallistic comics that dont BS them or the characters whilst the people that cant get over the criticisms react childishly to anyone who has broken free of Marvel's spell:rolleyes:

*You can find Amazing Spider-Man and occasional spinoffs in the mainstream universe. No marriage, but you might enjoy the stories.

*Marvel Adventures Spider-Man: Real Spider-Man adventures as a teen, his secret identity isn't known by any as far as I know.

*Spider-Girl: After the final Chapter Spider-Man lost his leg and resigned the super hero business and now his daughter is a superhero.

*Ultimate Spider-Man: Many of his villains know he is Peter Parker, also his aunt May, Mary Jane, SHIELD and the AVENGERS know who he. Peter is 16 years old.

You're right, I'd roll my eyes at your comment too.

Oversell much?

Amazing Spider-Man: Brand New Day Vol. 1 is coming out in hardcover on Wednesday. It collects ASM #546-551, a one-shot, and a lot of extras. Buy it

Best way to test it out. Like I said, if you have no particular qualms about the marriage, it's a fresh start. Not mindblowing storytelling, but modern twists on Silver Age styles.

So, you want to read Spider-Man, eh?

Okay, first you need money. Rob a bank, kill people, perform in a circus. Whatever it takes.

Then, go to your local comic shop, punch the guy behind the counter, maybe kick a magazine rack or two, and then ask if they have any copies of Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Human Torch mini-series. If they don't, burn the building down. Preferably, with eye lasers.

After you read that amazingly amazing tale, get more money, punch more people, kick more magazine racks and get some amazingly mediocre Spider-Man Brand New Day books and if you like them, kick a random guy in the groin.

The only way he would be getting "amazingly mediocre Spider-Man Brand New Day books" is if he got Slott's first arc and his solo issue.

Well, let's not go into this discussion.

In my honest opinion, BND stories have ranged from poor to mediocre. That doesn't mean i didn't enjoy them. I enjoy Slott's stuff, Guggenheim was alright and Bob Gale's arcs ranged from poor to alright.

Different opinions make the world go around!

I'm just that kind of guy. I know when a story is poor or mediocre or great or goes well with fried chicken, but I, myself, and me can still get enjoyment out of it.

Ultimate Spider-Man.

only if he prefer to re-live what hes already read with a twist. Otherwise id go with BND Trade and test the waters.

Agreed. The stories are not bad really. A lof of fanboys are getting worked up over the big changes and just ignoring the storytelling part of it. Try out Amazing Spider-Man. It's always better to make up your own mind instead of going by what fanboys say without giving something a try.

If the storytelling part was the least bit farking competant, those fans wouldnt get worked up over big changes. We complain because ASM's direction is rudderless and the story, the very esscense of reading ASM...is thin as s*it.

To put shortly and simply, some likable tidbits but mostly alot of "meh".

However, I think I should expand on that. I like the potential that the Spider-Man/Jackpot interactions present (which could be very interesting depending on who she turns out to be). Also, I enjoyed the Mayan arc. The rest of it ... I just don't know how to describe it right now other than "meh".
