How many here are going to be buying this mini-series?

I'm still on the fence. I want to support the book in hopes that she'll get a new ongoing, but...

I'm going to give it one issue. Though I guess I shall be praying for a divine miracle in the meantime.

I've also ordered one issue and one issue only!

I hope it doesn't spend much time trying to fix the screw-ups and just gets on with the story as if nothing ever happened. Dwelling on the screw-ups would be just as bad as the screw-ups itself.

I will try the first issue and hope that it will be better than Beechen's previous treatment of the character.

I have hopes that it will undo the previous many mess ups of her character. That said 1 issue, and then depending on if it seems to be on the right track more.

This is my favorite character in the DCU. Batgirl/Cassandra Cain. As long as it was done the way or similar to Kelly's or Andreyko's interpretation, then I'm okay with it. I'll take the whole series.

I was iffy on her when I read NML but when I checked out her monthly she just clicked with me. I'll give it 2 issues to not screw up

I hope this mini series is well done by the creative team, and that it does well on sales as well so it can warrant a regular monthly series for Cass.

I don't know the writer well. What's his style?

He's the one that turned Batgirl into a raving lunatic back in the One Year Later arc of Robin. He also a lot of Countdown.

i will... but i'm not happy about the white bat symbol on her chest... it's just annoying.... they must mess with costume in some way ... i mean why ? why ruin that beautiful Batgirl costume with that dumb white bat symbol on the chest. Does it really need any change ? i mean come on... what the heck is that thing...

Agreed, and I hope it's not mentioned in the story, so the next artists can just chalk it up to artistic lisence.

I don't know why people keep trying to change the bat symbol on the costume when more often than not complaints are about the mask being creepy. I assume critics mean the stitches and black leather combo more than anything, both of which can be easily altered without drastically change the aesthetic of the costume. I've read complaints about the eyes, too, but every artist draws them differently anyway. There's nothing particularly wrong with the rest of the costume, though.

It should be mentioned though that the change was editorially mandated. And it should be mentioned that there were several possible ways to turn her into a credible villain in a credible way but he chose one that contradicted her in every concievable way.

And it should also be mentioned that while there were more than one valid way of turning Cassandra Cain into a villain without it being out o character (much), Beechen chose to do so in a way that showed that pretty much showed that he hadn't even bothered to read her Wikipedia page nevermind any comics that she was actually in.

And it should be mentioned that it's just a comic.

Adam Beechen is writing it and Jim Calafiore's on art.

I'm personally not too interested in this - nor am I violently against it. Although I didn't care for his first arc on Robin, I actually rather liked the rest of Beechen's run. Still, I don't feel like his interviews regarding this mini have much spark to them, and his refusal to acknowledge why so many people were pissed about his treatment of the character definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I love Cass and have for years now, but I am just so tired of reading (at best) mediocre stories about her. Maybe if it had an artist that I really loved, I'd be more willing to risk buying a boring book. Calafiore's talented, but I prefer more stylized art, especially where a character like Cass is concerned.

Buy the first issue. If it sucks, don't get the rest. That will send DC a clear message that we want a Cassie series, but we're not going to settle for crap.

Otherwise, Cassie will fade off into oblivion, or worse, be turned into a villain again.

And it should be mentioned that it's just a comic. It's never "just a comic".
It should provide an emotional attachment that every reader should have for a piece of fiction. Without it, it wouldn't be entertainment.
More important: It is (or would be) an investment of a piece of my hard earned money in exchange for that entertainment. That money would be a token of appreciation and support for the people who were involved in it's creation and their vision.

Really, artistic skill and vision (or lack of it) is too precious for the resulting product to be dismissed as "just a comic".
Just like I wouldn't call Stairway to Heaven "just a melody", Lady Liberty "just a statue" or The Godfather "just a movie".

I'm budgeting for all 6 issues but I'll use that money elsewhere if the first issue sucks.
