Get rich as hell. Look at R.Kelly....they slapped him on the back and said "Hey son , go screw some more kids on tape. Long as ya make those Rap/Hip Hop albums we don't care."

Is anyone shocked ? I sorta knew the moment Kelly's $$$$ was discussed he'd be walking out. Such a shame in todays Justice System. Theres a justice for us the non-rich guys. And a system for those rich mega dudes like OJ Simpson.

If I was a member of that jury....god you disgust me. You disgust me on levels you can't imagine. You sent a good message to the rest of the world . And its a pathetic message of showing what a "Star" does for you.

Honestly, if they couldn't convict him in six years...

Simple matter was, it was a victimless crime. As in they couldn't find the victim. And if you don't think that isn't going to kill a case fast, you haven't been watching many episodes of Law & Order.

They had 20+ witnesses and the girl who claims she was part of the 3 way in the tape. Its amazing with video tapes , 20+ witnesses testifying against you and a documented past where a man married a 15 yearold girl.... he gets out of it.

Your favorite rapper just pissed on a bunch of kids. He's a fucking pedophile. He wrote a couple good songs but thats where his goodness ends. He deserves to be locked away . Be as rude as you wish. But It doesn't change anything. R.Kelly is a mega rich pedophiile and the jury told him to keep going.

And the girl saying no, she wasn't.

Which is generally gonna fuck up your case.

Which is true. But lets be honest...if they had video tapes of Joe Blow and someone who claimed she took part as well ....while Joe and the girl involved claimed they didn't...would his ass be in jail ? Be honest...if regular Joe Blow from small town America had as much evidence against him ...would he be in jail ?

With the evidence that was introduced, I think the jury did the right thing. The "witness" that said she was in the three way had her credibility crushed by admitting to stealing $20,000 from Kelly.

I do not even understand why the prosecutor brought this to trial.

Now you're playing imaginary games. And yeah, probably, if Joe had an even semi-competent lawyer.

See, this goes two ways. Considering how little they actually had on him, which you can pretty much tell as they were going after a pornography charge, as opposed to a stat rape charge, do you think this would have been pursued for six years if he wasn't famous?

Which shows she basically was close to R.Kelly and I suppose they saw him on tapes nailing a 13 yearold and thought...hey thats a crime. We should prosecute him.

You bet your ass Joe Blow would. He'd be put under the jail. He wouldn't get the special R.Kelly treatment. Him for months goin back and forth from Florida...touring ect ect....plus how long was the trial delayed ? A year or 2 ?

It took em 6 years to get to trial which shows you...the R.Kelly factor. If this was a regular guy he'd been tried in a month . Money can buy you tons of time .

Also when is 20 witnesses and video tape actually "little evidence" ? I mean ...what more did they need ? Him getting close to the camera singing "I Belive I Can Fly ?"

The sad reality of the justice system right now. Which is very sad to see keep being replayed over and over with these celebrity trials . You can just imagine a poor bastard being done like that and imagine how quick he'd be screwed.

In other words, you're basing this on nothing but how you feel. No fact, just emotion.

I have an acquaintance who is not quite as flush with money as Mr. Kelly. He was accused of sleeping with a girl by her father. Both he and the girl denied it. A doctor said her hymen was intact (not that that proves anything other than her hymen is intact). There was no video tape to dispute in this case.

He is currently serving 25 years.

That's not a statistic, that's you saying you know a guy. I have an acquaintance who had the same thing happen, but he got off. OK, no I don't, but you don't know that. And frankly, the story holds about the same level of merit.

Here's something that barely holds more merit, actual news stories where Joe Shmoes gets off with kiddy rape.

I mean, hell, that last one, the guy was a convicted rapist and he got off.

And you know what? That ain't proof of jack squat, either. It's all colloquial. Ain't worth shit. All about statistics.

Now granted, having the money to afford a good lawyer does a lot. But the point that I was having a problem with wasn't that money can get you off, but that not having money doesn't give you a chance. That's crap. It makes it harder, but it's more about finding a good lawyer. Every once in a while, you find a good one for cheap. I mean, hell, that last one, he's a convicted child rapist and he managed to get off?

Well, that's the thing when you bring up stuff like that. One of two things are going to happen - it's either going to shut things up, or an asshole like me is going to use it to show that just because you know someone that something bad happened to, doesn't mean it's a universal situation. And yeah, I was kind of an asshole about it, but it really is a perfect example of emotion subverting logic.

R.Kelly's infamous "mole defense" Ha. Its gonna be like OJ's bloody glove. All we need is Cochran yellin "If theres no mole , you can aquit this brother since he's got soul !"

Dang it, ECW, stop calling him a rapper. He's an R&B singer. Not all music done by black guys is rap, you know.

Heh, if R. Kelly was a rapper, he'd be giving rap an already bad name.

But anyway, I was watching the news after the verdict. One of the people interviewed outside the courthouse was a 15 year old girl. She said the guy in the video did not look like R. Kelly at all.

Which, of course, provoked two thoughts in my head:

-the identity of R. Kelly in the video wasn't the issue, it was the identity of the alleged victim in question. That was him in there.
-...a 15 year old girl watched a 27-minute sex tape of R. Kelly and basically said so on NBC. Where the hell is Chris Hanson?!

That's absolutely true. But I know you see the ridiculousness of it. We're talking about people's lives and someone actually takes the opinion of "hey, them's the breaks. Better luck next time." It's absurd. And I'm not saying that you think that's ok.

And just so it's known, I'm not talking about criminal cases either. Money plays way too big a role in all aspects of the justice system.

Ok, I'm done now.
