The Spider-Man office blog has some hints for what's happening in the future of the books. (http://www.marvel.com/blogs/Spider-Office/entry/1185)
Two days ago, The Spidey Braintrust had a conference call with new writers, Joe Kelly and Mark Waid. I listened in and while I couldn't get much from my vantage point, I picked up the following key words on the discussion of fall plans:
The Punisher
Harry Osborn and Liz Allen
Mysterio
The Spider-Tracer Killer revealed
Mayor
Dexter Bennett
He also posted a cover promising a fight between Spider-Man, and one of the most dangerous guys in the Marvel Universe.

What's he gonna do, drool him to death?

Even if some of these hints may explain the OMD/BND changes a bit. To me I see it as some rehashing some old story lines and that there is a possibility of Spidey and Punisher team up as Spidey avoids the Thunderbolts. :frown:
And a hint of the return of Mysterio which may hopefully explain just what happen to him the last time we saw him.
All I can say that if this is written by Dan Slott I can have some hope for an explaination.

God, I hope he doesn't mean Galactus.

The Spider-Tracer storyline, mayoral election, and Dexter Bennett are all NEW stories, not nostalgia.

And if all Spider-Man did was fight new never-before-seen villains and meet all new characters, you'd complain that they don't use his classic rogue's gallery and supporting cast enough. Can't have it both ways.

Give me new villains in conjunction with a familiar and viable supporting cast that doesnt BS me on regression and you wont hear a PEEP.

Isn't that what we're getting? Where is the regression, aside from the obvious bachelor status of Peter?

I'm most excited about The Punisher appearance, the return of Mysterio (please be Quentin Beck) and the Spider-Man vs. Bullseye battle.

Very good point. I've actually liked all the storyline/villains so far except the Winter God story. I just hated that. It's almost like they used that to pull Strange and Wolverine into the book to show that Spiderman isn't in his own universe or something.

Is it really Bullseye? I thought Bullseye had his neck broken and has been brain damaged?

Mysterio

And I'm if Dan Slott writes Mysterio but with his classic costume, it would be cool.
I'm actually hoping they keep the updated outfit.

Explain it? The last time we saw Mysterio was literally a story designed around explaining what was up with old fishbowl head these days anyway, and it was very coherent and understandable. Beck = Dead, now acting as a supernatural entity. Berkhart = Alive, Active. Klum = Alive, active. Klum and Berkhart each view the other as a fake Mysterio.
If anything, I'm interested to see which Mysterio they use. I'm really, really glad he's being utilised again, and just hope it's the Berkhart Mysterio, my personal favourite. Mackie's run may have been awful, but he used Mysterio quite well as a master villain of illusionry, clearly working on a deeper scheme...
...which, because it's Mackie, was never revealed.

What did his updated outfit look like? I dont think I've seen it. I know about the fog bowl when he was fighting Ben for abit in the winter.

Maybe Mysterio was Facade.Facade was actually Terry Kavanagh's creation, and one reason Mackie shouldn't be considered the worse Spider-Man writer.
