This is my first post here, and I was wondering if there are any other indie artists that have self-published. Since this website has the word resources in it, I figured I'd check it out. I have 24 pages finished, and hope to use Lulu to publish (on demand maybe), a 48-page graphic novel. It would be two stories compiled together. Graphic novels can sit in a library or bookstore shelf easier than a normal comic, etc., so I'm going for it.

Seems the other two sections that could be useful here are the Showcase Your Work, and the one where people look for artists.

Thanks-

Do you have any specific questions about self-publishing?

I've self-published for the past 5 years so I may be able to answer some of your questions.

I always recommend self-publishing. I think it's a great way to learn about comics and publishing in general, it can give you much-needed feedback, and if you're interested in working for other publishers, it can get your work out there. I published my own photocopied mini-comics all through the 1990s, and it sure made a difference in my life (and many of them have been redone as full-sized comics since).

And these days there are more options for the self-publisher than ever (and plenty of advice; folks who self-publish tend to be a helpful bunch, and I'm sure you can get loads of feedback and suggestions. Let me know if I can help).

Good luck with the project!
