So...that's it? That felt like a pretty anti-climactic ending.

And I'm a bit confused, did we ever find out who was Masquerading as Spoiler? Gordon says that she's back at the end, does that mean this was Stephanie?

I'm mostly dissapointed that Bat-mite and Azrael were both on the cover but never showed up.

Other thoughts?

Did Catwoman ever show up? That will make or break whether or not I get the trade.

Catwoman wasn't in #9. I don't recall her being in the series at all, although she might have had an early cameo that I've forgotten.

I never doubted that it was Steph Spoiler, but I would really like her motivation for working with the Penguin. I could think of several, but none of them are very convincing. Which doesn't mean the writer doesn't have a good reason.

It wasn't explained in the end?

No and it still doesn't make sense. Wasn't the girl who was dressed up as Spoiler just some random person off the streets like those other villian-wannabe's? Why would she be there instead of Africa?

It was a random person, we see her send a note to Penguin quitting. Frank, lazy hack that he is, simply hid her face to create speculation that she was a known character. Ten bucks says that the second Spoiler is never brought up in the Robin books.

You're probably right, but I hope not. I really became fond of the character. I do hope that she "shows her face", again.

I know that she was presented as a random character from the streets, but I thought that this "random" character was indeed Steph who wanted to infiltrate the Penguin.
The Penguin however saw through her disguise and still decided to use her by presenting her with her very own costume.

This spoiler being a totally random character wouldn't make sense to me because for whatever reason Penguin considered her his trump card even though (contrary to all the other thugs) he gave her a costume and equipment that was totally underpowered.

The only other solution would be that she was actually some experienced supervillain/superhero that Penguin already knew beforehand. But then why don't they reveal her at the end of the series?

I still think it was Steph, but no matter who she was, the writers would better address this (Steph's motivation or GU-Spoiler's identity) somewhere in the future or it would all be rather pointless.

The flaw in your logic is assuming skilled writing on the writer's part ;)

The fake Spoiler was there to draw in fans. Payoff for the subplot was never really given any thought.

I always try to see the best in writers, particularly those that I don't know yet. And I had mostly enjoyed what I have read of GU. (which wasn't all that much)

Well, a Spoiler miniseries by Chuck Dixon was in the works which may or may not have picked up on this thread (DC minis have a habit of resolving plot threads in OTHER minis), but now that he's no longer employed by DC, that series may not even be happening anymore.

We don't know how long ago her story in Africa was in the Robin/Spoiler Special, so she might have left their and returned to Gotham just in time to learn about the Penguin's hiring thugs off the street, and, by chance got a similar costume, and secretly replaced it with her own, then she started spying on Tim (though I don't know why they couldn't have revealed it there for people who didn't buy Robin or the Special)

Lol, there's no way DC actually planned this series to tie into anything. We're just gonig to be left with more loose threads.

I need to re-examine the whole series now that it's all over, but my recollection leads me to believe that there may have been two Spoilers here. The first one, with the random sightings, I took to be Steph. (There was such a thing, wasn't there? Or am I misremembering or confusing the Robin storyline?) The person to whom Penguin gave the costume I took to be--someone else.

I think your mixing it up with the Robin storyline, but I also have to re-read this.

This series started off with a hiss and a roar, then petered out over the last four issues. There was good stuff in the first half,

SPOILERS:

the Zsasz-Matches fight, Bane seemingly returning to his Knightfall self, Johnny Stiches seemed an intriguing new villain...but everything was seemingly left unresolved...what was Bane up to, who knows? what happened to Great white shark? The conclusion left me feeling a little ripped off. Shame, cause it started so well.

That's generally a good stance to take, one I try to adhere to myself.

However, I've read a good deal of Frank's work. Aside from his Deadpool, he's usually an average writer on his best days and utterly terrible on his regular days. He's like the anti-Joss sometimes, playing flat into a cliche but utterly unable to twist it.

I doubt anyone other than Frank himself will pick up on the plot threads, because they were so poorly handled and executed.

I felt too there were way too many loose ends. I'm assuming the happenings of this book will be spilling over into the regular titles following R.I.P. That being said, they could of done without making this a seperate mini series.

Did anyone else find Robin's sign at the end hillarious?

I doubt it will. Chances are they will all be swept under the rug like a bunch of other loose story threads.
