It is my opinion that Tom Beland should be invited into the Amazing Spider-Man braintrust, even if just to write a few issues an year. So far, he has written four excellent Spider-Man stories, and his work on True Story, Swear to God demonstrates that he could do an excellent job making potential romantic interests compelling, something that's essential with the current divisive status quo.
I'd also expect him to do a great job with currently underutilized supporting cast members (IE- Flash Thompson, Aunt May.) And he has a record of excellent team-ups.

If Tom defalco ever leaves the Adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Spider-man, then I would pick him as his replacement.

I'd love for Tom Beland to write Spidey. The handful of stories he's written are some of my favs. Still from the sound of things, I'm not sure if he'd want to work with the editorial mandated Spidey that we currently have.

I think he's confusing dissolving the marriage with completely removing MJ from Spider-man mythos. MJ will still be in Spider-man. Plus thats a 2006 post, when talk was about that BinB cover.

He has said that he enjoys writing both versions equally (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=6716555&postcount=26)
But that doesnt change the fact he prefers MJ be Peter's wife.

I'll bet you spent a lot of time digging this link up! LOL!It's one of ten posts he's made on the message board, so not really.
And I did know about the post before I suggested him as writer (I also knew about his comments about the marriage.)

Actually, having seen what Slott has done on the book, I'd love to work on a Spidey book. But I think I'd do something that dealt with someone like Flash Thompson and his relationship with Peter.
And yeah... I can hear the gay remarks being typed about that last sentence. But there seems to be room now to work on the surrounding relationships in Pete's life.
Do I miss MJ? Hell yeah. I'm not really into writing a generic Parker date story... but this is a chance to explore the other supporting cast.
That said, the stories I've read so far have been very entertaining. They've been fun.

Having some of the other relationships Pete has explored would be nice, though I don't think they had to take the steps they did to do that. And while I'm glad you're still enjoying the books, I think if you are to write a Spider-Man story, I won't be around to read it. I'm crafting my letter to Marvel today to tell them why, for the first time in 35 years, I'm dropping Spider-Man.

Jim finally got his Spider-man cherry busted!
I went through that already in Clone Saga and most of the 90's. (And with 90's X-men to present)
