As Tom revealed on his message boards a few months ago, "Brand New May" will be followed by what he calls "the big one", where a character "may" die ( if that's an ironic in-joke metaphore for the clone, I'll stick a gun in his lung), and Mayday's life will change.

I'm going with her moving in with Gene Thompson, getting expelled, or both, and she goes "on the road" with Gene, the culmination of her foolhardy attempts at "making it work", with Wes and Normie going after her at the insistence of Peter and MJ.

The character death is already a confirmed part of the package, so it's an option in all of them

After reading issue #21, would Marvel really have the balls to kill off Peter?

Maybe they'll kill off MJ. Marvel has made their feelings about Peter's marraige pretty clear in other marvel books.

It'd be fairly childish to kill off MJ in a title that isnt harming the mainstream titles. Though I can understand why everyone's paranoid about that, Tom wouldnt settle for it either.

I think the death is going to be one of Mayday's friends, not Peter or MJ.

And what if it was Tom's idea?

That's interesting

But I would imagine less likely to want roo, opening woulds is not pleasant to even think about.

You know they could kill off May, herself in order to save the clone. :frown:

Kind of like a vice versa thing...:frown:

Still it kind of odd since in the Brand New May arc, they are already hinting that a death may occur in this one and it could occur again in the next one...:frown:

The choice of only saving one life that Mayday faces next issue has nothing to do with Peter and MJ.

DeFalco stated in a CBR interview hyping Spider-Girl that OMD showed him that he should take some risks and scare readers, however, the paranoia amongst fans is at an all-time high, some fans are doing precisly what Tom is wanting to do...tripping up and second guess themselves.

It's been speculated "Brand New May" is a parody of the Clone Saga anyway, and wont have a real impact on the next few issues afterwards.

Id say they could considering the ASM to ASG connection is gone via OMD. I wouldnt look for them to do it, but it would be interesting.

I don't think any of the above options will happen. I reckon after whoever dies May will dump Gene. She's already having some doubts about their relationship.

And the September issue of ASG, scheduled for release in September, has dropped the "Brand New May" title. It's now called "The End of May"

Bah, it should be the End of Mays.

One May is going to die, but I can't tell what will happen next to Mayday ?

I'm going with her moving in with Gene Thompson,...

Have you been reading the book? This seems the most unlikely thing to happen. Tom writes characters better then JQ...

I have a hard time imagining Mayday moving in with Gene. Besides, dude is too stuck on himself. And I want Mayday to get with Wes!

I've actually been mulling this after reading the latest issue again...and if this is accurate, it IS a shake-up, and a damn good use of the doppleganger plot (certaingly not a new one, but good for this title)

...The Changeling will die, but it'll be in front of Moose and Peter (who is going to be at the scene of the final battle), Moose will think the real Mayday is dead, and it'll give him all the firepower he needs to turn the city on Spider-Girl if the cops also suspect she killed her (because there going to have a sick little fight), Mayday will have no choice but to go underground with Kaine's group since she cant go home when MJ and Peter have to pretend their firstborn is dead and deal with freinds coming over to consoldate them.

Mayday will essentially have no civilian life, her friends all think she's dead, and her parents will now have to cope with keeping her prescience a secret if she chooses to go back home or risk compromising her identity....it'll also give Peter additional stress if Kaine and Normie help out Mayday, two people he doesnt entirely trust...and he already has mysterious symptoms that could kill or change him.

Well apparently if issue #21 holds some truth, then maybe. :frown:

Peter isnt dying. He'll have some kind of heart problem or something that will put him in the chestnut old-school "Frail Ol' Captain Stacy" role, but definatly not dying.

MAY will be dying, (The Changeling), and Mayday will be trapped in her Spider-Girl identity because of it.
