quick recap
the lanterns are caught in a gravatational pull caused by mother mercy that causes the corpses from space to rain on the planet. The corpses and the gravity threaten to crush them all until Sal uses his ring to fling Ion at Mother Mercy so he can incenerate it with a combination of his heat-vision and Ion energy.
This stops the gravity which allows the Lanterns to attack Mother Mercy. Natu stops them all because Mercy isn't attacking them and seems to be mourning the loss of her offspring. Turns out Mother Mercy isn't evil at all she's just spreading a little happiness around the universe with her children. But she's angry because Mongul is using her children to cause fear.
Arisa is pissed so she attacks MM until Yat calms her down. They both apparently faced their darkest fears and Yat believes they are stronger for it. The scene also continues to hint at a romantic relationship between the two.
Mongul and his sidekick show up and hit all the lanterns with his modified Black mercies.
During this issue the Guardians also note that the Violet lanterns are recruiting and the Lantern who was burned by the Anti-Moniter and who had the Black Hand symbol for irises implies that the Guadians will be going to war with the Zamerons

Yat makes me yak.
But besides that I love the members of this team. Besides Yat I love the other eight members of this team. They are awesome.

He's not that bad. I just don't like how they're trying to push him off as the next Hal Jorden

Not a good issue. A TON of filler.

Found it to be an okay filler issue. Liked the idea of a benevolent sentient Mother Mercy who's children were exploited by Mongul. Other than that there wasn't much of interest. Haven't managed to like Yat one bit since he was given Ion, however much the prophecy and plot in general tries to pimp the character.

I think Gleason's art is really starting to get on my nerves. Looked VERY sloppy in places.

Been actually quite happy with Gleason in the course of this series, but I agree with you that the art in this issue is indeed a bit sloppy in certain places. Didn't notice it the first time I looked through it.

Well I must say that this issue sure does changes the way I look at the Black Mercy plant.
Also it seems that Arisa may soon be gaining a new boyfriend and also it seems that war of the Light is coming in sooner or later.
Can't wait to get the TPB of this arc.

I'm now guessing that Black Mercy, if she survives, will become one of the first recruits of the Indigo Lanterns Corps. She seems primarily driven by Compassion, which will be that Corps' motivation.

AGREED!
I hope things pick up again in In Blackest Night.
I rate this issue a 5 out of 10, 5 being an average filler comic. Sodam seems awfully violent. That might hurt him in the long run.
I liked it but the pacing seems a bit off. It felt like it ended just as I started reading it.
Black mercy plants being sentient beings that travel to other worlds to help suffering people die instead not evil parasites is an interesting development.

Solid issue. I love Gleasons art style.
Storywise, I liked the Mother Mercy stuff. I hope she gets one of those colored rings. But as far as team chemistry, this book could be better. I wish someone would put Natu and Iolande on a bus and give the rest of the team more panel time. Kyle, Yat, Isamot, Stel, Vath and Arisia are more interesting to me. And I think that if there is a star, or person the book revolves around, it should be Guy. Guy still needs a love interest (in the cast). I wish they would bring the butterfly chick back... R'amey, I think her name was.
And I still wish Arisia didn't wear a cocktail dress into combat.

That'd be interesting.

Hell, that's the only thing remotely interesting about her.
