Do you just create whatever post comes into your head at that time or do you only ever create threads that you are convinced will be a winner?

I think the best threads are when the forum come together to help someone with a problem.

Wonder who'll be the first to say something along the lines of "well you obviously didn't give much thought to starting this one lol.

Not much at all, as I rarely start them.

I'm reactive, not active.

And the word "proactive" should be shot!

Have you taken your proactive shots today?

I didn't think that 'Dox would have a problem with acne at this age.

It's good for hemorrhoids, too.

Hey, I spelled it right with no help!

On the rare occasion that I do start a thread here, it's because I've put a lot of thought into it. That doesn't mean it's going to turn out well, but I'd say that's still better than most of the bullshit that crops up here like mushrooms after a rainstorm.

I am now preserving this thought for all eternity.

On the Comm board - quite a lot. Maybe too much.

At Classics - next to none.

I come up with an idea, revise it, write it down, revise the written form of the idea, share it with at least ten colleagues, revise it, then post it.

How Much Thought Do You Give To Starting A New Thread? For a lot of people lately, I'd say not too fuckin' much.

I have one all lined up for when necessary.

I'm not much of a thread starter. But when I do start a thread, it's usually because I'm organising or am genuinely curious about the opinions or stories that I am soliciting.

I generally don't start new threads, much less on the Community forum. When I have, it's generally tied into something going on in my own life where I'm interested in others' opinions or I just feel like sharing. So my topic pool is fairly limited. I'm not one to talk politics or relgion, nor the particulars of my personal life. Nor do I really feel the need to start new threads; there's no validation in it for me.

I start new threads all the time on the Avengers and Showcase forums, obviously, but moreso to keep things moving and to hopefully contribute to and inspire more activity on those forums. I put anywhere from no to a lot of thought into those.

A lot. I don't start a lot of threads. And when I do, I've usually thought about it quite a bit.

If it has porn in the title, it's probably a good one.

I don't start topics too often. Although I'll admit, when I do, it's usually in something of a flood. I posted a few yesterday and it was mostly stuff I just didn't feel like I wanted buried in Rita's. But I think they are all still active, so I guess they didn't suck.

Lots. I use the search tool, which takes for-bloody-every, and often fails to find the previous thread about which I'm going to create a new thread, so when I DO create the new thread, someone says, "Why didn't you just use (insert link here)?"

Beyond that, I write it, re-read it, post it, use the edit function at least twice, before coming back to make a small correction or 8 after people have pointed out mistakes.
