Kingdom Come and JLA: Year One are what you need to check out.

Waid is currently writing Brave & the Bold. It's not his very best work, but it's better than his work on the modern Legion series that Shooter has been writing lately. The early B&B issues with Perez artwork has some really fun dialogue, particularly in the team-up between Lobo and Supergirl. The latest issue featuring a team-up between Batman and Jay Garrick has some nice touches.

Check out his run on Fantastic Four. Issue numbers don't come to mind right now, but if you do some searching I'm sure you can find tpb's.

Read Empire (http://dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=3917), one of the best comics written in the last 20 years. You won't regret it.

I'll back up what people said above. Kingdom Come and his Flash run are legendary, and great stuff to pick up. (I'm a little surprised nobody mentioned his Impulse work. Now *that* was a fun title to read.)

But there's also another little-known story that took place in all four Superman titles back in...I think it was 1996 or 1997?

Superman switched places with a boy in an asylum. Very fun four parter.

(And I hate to be the one to say this, I was hoping someone else would, but...one c two m's...)

Oh yeah. I keep hearing how awesome Empire was.. and keep forgetting to pick it up. Maybe it would have stayed alive if I, and others, weren't morons and missed the book.

Plus I need to check out trades of Impulse and Flash.

I would check out "The Kingdom." It's not as well written as "Kingdom Come," but it's not nearly as safe either. The art on the second part detracts a little bit from the big revelation, but with the return of the Multiverse I think that Kingdom will gain in historical significance since the big concept was the brainchild of Morrison and Waid.

I enjoyed Empire, but I had the impression that it was only intended to be a limited series, though the ending left the door open for a sequel. I'm not sure that I could enjoy an ongoing series with so many vile characters.

I think you're right. It was only intended as a mini, I believe. Both Mark and Barry Kitson have said they will do a sequel, the only problem is getting the two of them back together again with their conflicting schedules.

I actually have the first issue of the Gorilla Comics run signed by Mark & Barry. It's probably not worth much, but it's one of my favorite collectibles.

When launched at Gorilla comics it as meant to be an ongoing, but Gorilla folded due to investors screwing about.
When revived by DC it was only for the mini (which I feel managed to lose the potential shown in the first two issues).
