This makes me wonder what would happen if Hulk had found his son.

Caiera lives? In a way?

This looks really great.

Man, I can't express how skeptical I was of the son of a Marvel Milestone, but I gotta say that Skaar really is impressive from what I've seen. I'm excited to see this series kick off.

Basically.

Ron's art looks absolutely amazing in this preview, if anything I'll be getting it for that but so far this looks interesting.

Wow.... wasn't expecting much, but the preview looks awesome so far! I can't wait to pick this up, hopefully my local comic shop has it.

I'm not big on Hulk books, but will be picking this one up! Looks very cool.
Check out Julie Bell's artwork, she's awesome. Remember those Marvel cards from the 90's??

I generally think Julie Bell's a really good painter but my problem with her superhero work is that all the characters seem to have their costumes painted onto their body rather than it looking like they actually wearing cloth material.

Her cover for this book looks great though, I was wondering what she was doing since then.

Man, Garney's pencils look sweet. I'm glad to see Pak on a Hulk book even though it's about his son. I can't wait to get this.

Thankfully with Skaar, that apparently is not a problem.

Where is Greg Pak going to go with this?

Lets say Skaar ages 18 years on Sakaar. That's like 18 x 7 = 126 years in the future of our time. Will Hulk eventually visit Sakaar and meet his son, because if he does, it will be in the distant future, and Hulk will have aged 18 years Marvel time, but will be way past current continuity.

If Skaar ends up just a stand alone story, with no context to earth, then it just peters out like some futuristic 2020 timeline.

About the preview? This looks really good, with a tragic story of isolation and abandonment.

considering how bad The Hulk is i'm looking forward to this.

As for him running into his father or the rest of the Marvel U. I hope it gets 3 or 4 story arcs under it's belt before a crossover.

Just like when Exiles crossed over with marvel 616

The Oldstrong age WAY faster than humans. As mentioned in the preview they walk and run within days of their birth. They reach adolescence in what would be early childhood for humans, and he aged faster because of his dad's Gamma irradiated physiology. I have a feeling Pak had this in mind the whole time, because he planted the seeds early on in Planet Hulk.

So Hulk had sex with a 10 year old Ceira because she aged so fast?

I'm still kind of puzzled as to where that egg came from. I thought Caiera disintegrated.

I just wonder where the speed up aging comes from?

It comes from the comics.

To quote the Planet Hulk Gladiator Guidebook, written by series writer and Skaar/Sakaar creator:

"Newly born Shadow People are much more developed than their Imperial counterparts-- Standing at least two feet tall, a Shadow infant finds its feet within minutes and can run within hours of birth. Development is rapid, with the average six-year-old Shadow Person having the height and build of the average thirteen-year-old Imperial. But once reaching adulthood, Shadow People are much longer lived than Imperials."

The sped up aging comes from reading the texts from the comics, handbooks, and the preview, where it says again, "A Shadow Child can run within minutes of birth... ...But you were just conceived." and after a little bit of exposition and description to finish that page, on the next "But you are your father's son." Skaar not only runs, he swims, kills, and seems to take care of himself. Shadow People age way faster than humans, and Skaar ages way faster than Shadow People without Gamma-irradiated human fathers.

Its kinda of how if you take and land based human father, and a water locked atlantian mother, you get a superstrong flat headed Spock with wings on his feet.

the "egg" was stone that Caiera used to protect Skaar's fetus while he developed

It shows the egg dropping out of where Caeira was when Hulk was holding her during the warp core blast. Hulk didn't notice the egg dropping out and falling into the lava / boiling lake.

So a while back Greg said he wanted to do a three story arc involving the hulk. The first being planet hulk, the second being wwh. Is this the third?

I can see Skaar blaming Hulk for the death of his mother and his abandonment. If they do meet one day it'll be interesting which incarnation of the Hulk it is and how their first meeting will be like.

The thing about that scene in the preview is that I don't quite remember that being in the Incredible Hulk book when that happened. That is unless it slipped past me and it happened in a panel that I'm just not remembering well.

Even the end of WWH made me go "WTF?" when I saw Skaar just come right out of the earth or whatever that was.
