Anyone else want to support Operation Mayday, because we really need the support if we are to save Mayday from cancelation, once again, by ASG #30. :frown:

Count me in, fella! I've only recently started reading Amazing Spider-Girl but I've found MayDay's adventures to be thoroughly enjoyable and I'm going to do my part in the battle to save her book from cancellation.

i was hopen this was a campaign to stop the pending death of the book. I honestly could care less where its sold at this point. Barnes and Noble would be a feather in its cap, but only for 5 issues, me thinks Marvel needs to be hit with fan fair and outcry for them to not can the book.
I'll be campaigning my LCS to put Spider-Girl on a "hot number" list (sort of like the "must-read" racks)

Can't really help, except sending letters to marvel. I don't have those kind of stores here.

guys that wont do anything. You have to address it with marvel to fix it. As it stands now you have 5 months to rally support and save the title.
1) stop waiting for trades
2) convience others they should be reading the title thus creating more local demand.
3) form an internet petition.
4) write letters and send email to marvel.
Talking to your local store wont make them order more copies. The demand must be there first.
essentially you have 5 months to spike demand and get marvels attention. You will likewise need to make sure they know what is going on. Good Luck. Ive done my part

The death knell of all low selling series' is the trade waiting.
Uncanny X-Men will never be canceled so if you must wait for the trades on a book like that.
Books like Ms Marvel, Jonah Hex or Spider-Girl need the individual issue sales NOW... not trade sales later.

Yea let's save the book again knowing that the same fate will occur in 6 months from now.

Didn't trades save the low-selling She Hulk from cancellation?

Yep.
But at some point Marvel (or any business) will look at the immediate sales of a book and not the possibility of sales when deciding on cancellation or not. Trades are a big "let's hope they buy it!" whereas monthly sales are a definite sale and show immediate support.

basically trade sales just equal bonus money for the creators, right?

I think the best thing to do would be to buy extra copies, starting NOW, from your LCS and give them away to prospective fans. You give ASG a sales bump this month, with the hopes of hooking enough new readers to purchase their own copies from this point forward.
There are 15000 of us right now. If we can add just 1/15 of that number as new readers, ASG might be saved.
If I can dig up the extra cash, that's what I'm going to do. I'm also going to a comic show on Sunday and may hunt down some cheap back issues and give those away as well.

Pretty much.
The monthly sales are what are used to justify a books continued existence.
