This guy did an amazing job with darkness calls... i mean a real bang up job. I was throughly impressed with his work and it would be a shame if this guy isnt going to be sticking around for a while? are the any future plans with him in mind?

most of the upcoming Hellboy minis are with Duncan at the art helm...
he will be around for a bit I would hazard a guess

His work at Oni with Jay and Silent Bob was awesome, and I liked Enigma (his art helped), so I was ecstatic when I learned he was visiting Hellboy-country.

YeahYUHEE.

Duncan is fantastic. He stepped into a gig where most people were prepared to hate him cos he wasn't Mignola, and he won pretty much everyone round. He is a super talented artist, and a thoroughly nice guy.

Duncan is an amazingly talented artist, and IMHO did a superb job on Darkness calls.

I hope he can make it to BICS again this year.

I'm quite excited for Duncan to continue drawing Hellboy so that Mike can draw other stuff. I hope that other stuff comes out soon!

With the exception of a few preview pages and a half-assed google image's search i had been unfamilar with Duncan's artwork and to tell you the truth, I was getting a little nervous.

I don't mind a one shot here or there drawn by a different artist, hell even a mini now and then is okay but this was different. Duncan Fegredo would be drawing hellboy for a long time(confirmed four mini's, last i heard) and i just didn't think i could take it.

Then my copy of Darkness Calls arrived in the mail the other day and blew me away. I honestly can't belive how much i enjoyed the artwork, and then it occured to me that not only has there been no dip in quality thanks to the addition of Fegredo but we will also see a much greater quantity of releases now that he's on the creative team............ who the hell is gonna turn that down, huh?

I have to be honest, I do miss Mike's art on the interior pages, but I think we're in safe hands with Duncan handling the art. He's the perfect pick for Hellboy - Darkness Calls was just awesome. Can't wait to see what he brings to Hellboy's world next!

the only thing that would make the hellboy world better would be for mignola to stop drawing covers and actually make a series again, but the truth is the guy is just way to slow to do it. it took him forever to produce the originals and i feel the demand for the books now-a-days is just way to high for him and just way to much pressure. i can feel for him man, but i just really want him to start drawing books again and make hellboy look the way it is supposed to.

I'm likely in the minority here, but I'm all for Mike writing Hellboy stories and doing Hellboy covers and the occasional short story. But I miss the days when I'd see Mike's artwork in half a dozen different comics titles in a year, covers and interiors. It was always a nice surprise to see his work in different comics of every genre.

I know what you mean.

I'll even admit, when I first started seeing Mignola's work on the covers of Marvel X-annuals, I said, wtf, but as I matured I grew to love his work, not just on Hellboy but in general.

He brings a great perspective to the comic book landscape, and even reminds me why comic book art is some of the best art there is.

I am all for Duncan to keep drawing Hellboy. Darkness Calls was really excellent, I think it ranks as probably my second favorite Hellboy story so far (my favorite being Conqueror Worm).

Funny this. After reading only Dutch translated Tarzan and Batman (featuring much of Mignola Batman covers and pin-ups as bonus sections) comic-wise I tried and started to read untranslated stuff when I was 14/15. My first purchase being Kid Eternity 1-3 and Gotham By Gaslight. I liked 'em and remember upon seeing like Aparo or Ordway or Dan Jurgens stuff going: don't these guys know how to draw?
Maybe in comics I am to be called one screwed up puppy...
Oh well, luckily I know no better .

I have always loved mignola's artwork...in whatever it maybe. it is beautifully simple and as a designer i find that the way he uses line is very originally and intelligent. he knows how to manipulate line into working for him instead of against him. some artists will just layering on detail after detail to cover up incorrect lines. he knows how and where to place a line in order to achieve the most dynamic effect with the smallest amount of effort.

Duncan did a smashing job on Darkness Calls, no doubt about it.But right now, I'm spitting kippers, I just spotted Duncan's Fallen Son # 3 sketch cover going for 200 bucks [first time I've seen it]. It's not that I don't think it's worth it, but 10 or 20 dollars puts it in the realm of the common man. Marvel, if they had any sense would make a poster of it....[It's quite an iconic image]...Well done Duncan, all the best...
