I was visiting my local bookstore this morning and found something called the The Essential Batman Encyclopedia (http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Batman-Encyclopedia-Robert-Greenberger/dp/0345501063) sittin' on the shelves. Naturally, I snatched up a copy. I no longer follow the Batman titles, but I'm still a fan of the character, and this struck me as a ''must have'' item. Anyone else seen it yet?

Ive given it a quick look before in my LCS but never bought it. However, I did like it and thought it was pretty cool. Ive also seen a training manual on how to become Batman; like training and making your own utility belt...tad too far
I didn't know this was out yet. Does anyone know this compares with Michael Fleisher's Batman Encyclopedia? For those who don't know, Fleisher went into DC's archives in the 1960's and went over every single issue of Batman, Detective, and World's Finest and took detailed notes on every character and detail in those issues. He assembled an encyclopedia which chronicled every Batman appearance in these three titles from 1939 until the end of 1965. I think he spent about 100 pages just describing the character of 'Batman'. Greenberger announced that he would be updating Fleisher's work about a year ago, but at 400 pages it seems shorter than it would need to be to include Fleisher's work and everything that happened since 1965.

Maybe Greenberger will need an assistant. I'd do that for free!!

This book sounds cool, lucky for me my local library has it on order, so I can check it out for free.
