Anyone else read this? I purchased it based on the plot and cover. Sadly I was pretty disappointed overall. The stories (only about 3-5 pages each) are nearly identical. No real plot outline.

However, I will give kudos to all the artists. There is some pretty good talent in some of the illustrations here.

Overall.... $14.99.... I could have purchased comics that are ten times better.

Anyone else read this?

I've read it and am also a contributing artist. I did the cover and one of the versions of low rent housing in the back (thanks for the kind words).

I enjoyed the book a lot and felt that as an anthology it was well done (anthologies are notoriously hard to pull off). I also have read a good portion of the script for the upcoming book which is one story and not an anthology and I have to say its pretty over the top and clever.

I know I am biased but i thought i should say something. JHZ may have started out as an anthology which can only be pushed so far but I think as it moves forward it will impress with a more complete and intricate narrative

Man, you're making me feel bad for not liking the story.

Like I said though the art is fantastic. A side note, It's weird because I just purchased your book "Birth" from instocktrades on monday. It always came up first in the search results and I finally read the plot outline and it intrigued me.

If only I had artistic talent.

sorry to hear you were disappointed in the JHZ anthology. If it's any consolation - Jesus Hates Zombies featuring Lincoln Hates Werewolves Vol.1 of 4 is an ongoing story with one artist - probably something you're more looking for. Also, it's 64 pages and $7.95 so it's half the price of the anthology. Look for it in July's Previews.

here's some preview pages for you and i hope you at least give this a shot, although i understand if you don't:

Don't feel bad at all!!! You have to be able to take a bit of constructive criticism if you are going to put something out there.

As for Birth, No matter how you feel, I hope you can start a thread like this about me!!! I'd be honored whether it was filled with praise or criticism.

Lincoln actually shares the story with Jesus - their paths cross in a time traveling paradoxical vortex of sorts, hah. They're eventually going to end up kicking zombie and werewolf butt together - and let's just say things are gonna get out of hand when a zombie gets hungry for werewolf.

This preview does look promising.

Does this story pick up where "Jesus Hates Zombies" left off? If so, does Jesus' new found zombie sidekick appear or no?

actually, Laz (the sidekick), is on the last preview page posted up. :-D so he does come back and in a bigger way than in the anthology book.

for more preview pages - head on over to www.captionsandballoons.com - it's writer Stephen Lindsay's site.

Wow... how have I missed this thread?!?

suttercain,
Sorry you didn't like the book! As Mike (spagettikiss) stated, anthologies are hard as hell to pull off. Some of the stories just aren't going to resonate with people. I certainly agree with you about the art! I was extremely lucky to work with a TON of talented folks on it!

And don't feel bad. I know not everyone is going to dig my book. I really appreciate you giving it a shot. And I can guarantee that the new book will be more to your liking!!

Thanks, everyone, for the comments on the preview. I'm really proud of how this book is turning out! It's a pretty epic story with a lot going on!!

The interior art in the pages AlternaPete posted look pretty decent.

Lincoln reminds me of the A.L. from the Clone High animation series.

.......wait, wasn't Jesus himself a zombie? Why, of all people, is He bein' a hater?

Also, was John Wilkes Booth a werewolf or something?
