Hi,
I am a former comic fan that has wanted to get back into the hobby for the last few years. Basically, I would love some suggestions to add to my pull list. It has been probably about 10 years since I read anything regularly and I am into pretty much anything as long as it is good. I am also not stuck on one company or another. Any help would be awesome.

Grab your walker and hobble over to the nearest comic store. Grab a trade paperback or two, just to get up to speed. If you haven't been buying individual comics for a decade, the price per page is gonna knock you to the floor.
I think MANHUNTER rocks and I've recently converted into a POWERS-ite. You'll want to start with trades for both of 'em, just to get a sense of story.

Since this is the DC board (I read mostly marvel), all I can reccommend for sure is Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps.
Start with the Rebirth trade...or just the Sinestro Corps War. They've really been awesome.
I was never into GL ever, but had no problem jumping in at the beginning of the Sinestro Corps event.
I would also reccommend Manhunter too. It just restarted with #31 after a long hiatus. I've read all the past issues but not 31 yet, but I read on here that it has a thorough and excellent recap page that really got new readers up to pace without any confusion.
Green Lantern and Manhunter. Fo'sho.

All Star Superman is one of the best books being published anywhere. The issues of Detective Comics that Paul Dini has written. Great one and two part stories. The Brave & The Bold relaunch. Birds of Prey. For trades, definitely pick up The New Frontier, Batgirl: Year One, Superman: For All Seasons, Superman: Up, Up & Away, The Huntress: Cry For Blood, any Birds of Prey trade. Grant Morrison's run on JLA. Oh, the Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale Batman books are a must, included Catwoman: When In Rome. And Catwoman's Big Score is just awesome.

What books did you enjoy before you stopped?
Will be easier to recommend if we know what sort of things you like!

A short list for books currently being published would read:
Fables (DC/Vertigo)
Immortal Iron Fist (Marvel)
Rex Mundi (Dark Horse)
the Hellboy universe (BPRD,Hellboy, Lobster Johnson, etc.)
Hellblazer (DC/Vertigo-- seriously, as good as it's ever been)
Captain America (Marvel)
X-Factor (Marvel)
All Star Superman (DC)
Casanova (Image)
Fell (Image)
Those are the essentials right now, in my opinion. There are a lot more great books out there, but I think it's a matter of personal taste beyond what I've listed. (Also, I 've short-changed cancelled books like Exterminators and The Order.

Really it all comes down to finding atleast one good title.
That will likely lead you to other titles.
I cam back to comics 2 years ago. Didn't know what to get, figured I'd start with New Avengers. Liked it, got the trades for it. Liked them.
Captain America is cool in NA, so I bought his title. Liked that. Saw Iron Man a lot. Got his title liked that.
And so on...

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions! Back in the day, I was a pretty big fan of:
Batman
Xmen
SpiderMan
Superman
JLA
The Sandman
Cerberus
Anything by Neil Gaimen or Alan Moore really
Those are the ones I can think of anyway. Again, thanks for all the suggestions. Now, another question... I live in the middle nowhere and the only "comic shop" in my area is crap. They have nothing and are rarely open. Have any of you used an online comic book retailer? Any suggestions?

Coming back to comics, you'll notice there are a lot of crossovers and long story arcs everywhere, so I suggest something you can jump right into: Jonah Hex, the most well-written non-Vertigo DC title out there.

For Batman, I'd recommend Detective Comics. Dini tells his stories in one or two issues, and they are good ones. Batman RIP is going on in the Batman title right now, and that might be tough to get into after 10 years away.
For Superman, definitely All Star Superman. Action Comics is very good right now too. Superman just switched writers, and Robinson's first issue is coming up this month, so can't give you any advice there yet. But I'm very hopeful.
I really don't like JLA right now at all. However, JSA is GREAT. I highly recommend it.
Some other DC titles definitely worth checking out are Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, and The Brave and the Bold.

I've used only two online retailers as I like to give my LCS my money (Isotope in SF, James Sime = the BEST). But when I did use them, i've had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever.
