Yeah, this was on all the news sites when it was announced a month or two back. Think it's a decent tactic not to shove a new ongoing writer in, but do hope the series isn't on rotating writers forever.

Garth Ennis said he would eventually come back to Punisher someday. They are giving him over a year of a break, perhaps they dont want to plan ahead further in case Ennis decides to come back after the break.

After JoeQ only knows how many years of one writer on the book, I have to admit, a new voice might not be a bad thing. Assuming it's the right writer.

I admit that the rotating writer angle has me a bit worried, but i'm willing to give the new writers a chance.

I'm not. When Ennis leave, I leave with him.

I might be willing to give a new creative teama shot, but I am definitely not giving three new creative teams a try-out. I am not made of money.

Plus that Force Of Nature one-shot was rather dire.

The second arc sounds terrible, just a lazy knock-off of "Crank". That one I'll skip.

I'm glad they're keeping Goran Parlov on board as one of the rotating artists, maybe they could get Fernadez or Larosa back as well?

Frell that dude!!!

don't go! Ennis will be back at X mas anyway with (art by steve Dillon) on a follow up to the welcome back frank storyline.

The return of Ma Gnucci. A six issue limited series, on the marvel knights line...........

and Fernandz back drawing the punisher would be a dream come true..........

I never read Force of Nature myself. I have heard it wasn't great though. Personally i love the Punisher way too much just to up and leave because a certain writer is going away. As long as the new teams hold true to the tone set by Ennis, i'm willing to see where they take the book.

Im worried about the three writers thing. It would have been better if one got the chance and the time to do Punisher right.

Im not leaving though. Ennis is my favorit and i read 99 % what he puts but im staying with Punisher. As long there is Punisher in Ennis crime,Max style im fine.

The day they destroy that Punisher for what he was before in MU is the day im gone.

i see where you coming from, Ennis is top ten best comic writers ever, in my humble opinon.

but the three writers coming on to write the title are three successful crime novelists, with many many crime novels written between themselves, and are actual proper fans of the punisher to.

You'd still be spending the same amount of money even if Ennis was still writing.

Didnt you feel anything for the stories or for Frank ?

I wonder how its so easy to dump it if you liked the stories.

When i was reading the single issues,GNs i forgot whose name it was on the cover as a writer.

Some people's man-love for Ennis is so strong it kind of scares me.
I have man-love for Ennis too, but c'mon, that doesn't supercede my fictional gay crush on Frank Castle.
I will definitely be sitcking with the title.

I used to follow certain characters, completely sure that their adventures on another world were being reported.

But I noticed a strange thing: the characters adventures were often more interesting when reported by certain scribes and artists. I began to harbor a dark thought.... "Could it be possible that the characters actually feature in invented stories?"

Call me a non-believer... but once Garth goes I suspect reports of Frank's adventures on the front line of chaos will become less gripping. I'm going to act on that thought, and jump ship.

Yeah, I stopped buying comics based on the lead character a while back. Now I just buy stuff by good writers/artists and ignore the rest. If the post-Ennis Punisher stuff gets good reviews, I might check it out in trade, but the writers are unknown to me so I'm not going to shove money straight into it.

I don't follow characters, I follow writers. Follow them from character to character and from company to company.

My favourite character is Batman. But if I just buy all the books the have Batman in them, I am going to by a hell of a lot of comics that are average at best.

If on the other hand I resolve to buy all books written by Ed Brubaker, even the obscure black and white indie stuff, I am pretty much guaranteed a good comic each and every time.

Yeah, but I probably wouldn't enjoy reading it as much, or at all. There's better things to do with $3 than buying a comic from a writer I haven't been able to enjoy in the past. Like spending it on Ennis' Battlefields from Dynamite.

My favorit Superhero is Batman. I become a comic fan thanks to Year One,DKR but today i dont read one Batman comic thanks GM.

So im not character reader either. I was as comics newbie but not anymore.

I do buy though everything Ennis,Bru writes minus of course X-men stuff.

No wonder Ennis is so wanted by indie companies he brings alot of fans with who will read everything he does.

Still i find Punisher interesting enough to try his Post Ennis work.

My non comics fan brother started reading Punisher cause of Ennis. He looked like he would cry when i told him Ennis was leaving.

I havent told him yet about his upcoming Punisher work with Dillon ;)

I'm definitly going to try it. It would be refreshing if it becomes a place for great crime thrillers rather than just one guy that likes to kill everybody like Ennis did with Punisher. His stories were enjoyable but his Frank Catle was rather one note.

The other versions of Punisher were more fleshed-out?

Yep. For one thing he was a man. Ennis made him some sort of Michael Myers-like invincible supernatural cold killer that was never in jeopardy. I guess that was the difference between Ennis and other writers in that Ennis' version the character was never really in trouble, he was like super-human in what he was doing. I guess it worked in the humourus Marvel Knights version Ennis did with Steve Dillon where it came out as some sort of grown up Road Runner cartoon show. But I felt it didn't work as well later on with the MAX series because he was placed in more realistic settings but kept on being the same and it wasn't easy to get into stories where the main character is supposed to be the eyes and hears of the viewer while having zero warmt and zero flaws.

Also how come Baracudda did almost kill someone important to Frank and beat the hell out him,put him in hospital. Thats not supernatural and ubeatable ;)
