He heroically went back into the Phantom Zone. Mon-El is searching for him but he's nowhere to be found. This all happened in the Action Annual #11.
He was in a steel cage match with Jason White to see who was lamer. Luckily, both of them died.

It eventually became painfully obvious that there were only so many stories they could do with him and conseqently he got banished to "out of sight, out of mind land" (aka "The Phantom Zone").

Actually, from what I've read it sounds like it was originally their plan, but because of the Annual was so delayed, Chris appeared in the Superman title so as to not give it away that he was leaving. *shrug*
Personally, I liked the idea of Chris (not of changing Lois from a career-oriented woman to "supermom," however). I think he had a lot of potential and I was sad to see him go.

thanks for the replys, I collected all the super comics until they had the bug people run (though I still collected the amazing LoSH arc) and it kinda turned me cold, I might come back and try to track down the annual to see the end of that story.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become the next Superboy a few years down the line.

Was adding Chris similar to how sitcoms add a kid to boost the ratings? In other words, Superman was sucking so bad that the only idea DC had was to add a kid in an attempt to garner interest. I guess it was really because of the Superman Returns movie. DC had to add the kid so that people that saw the movie wouldn't wonder why he wasn't in the comics.

Because, of course, DC is famous for changing the comics to fit the movies.

yeah gimmicks like taht should not be done. Superman doesn't need a kid imo.

If there is a Superman and the Legion of Superheroes book, I'd like to see Chris show up there.
I liked him. I wish they would do more with him.

Banished to comic limbo, years later he eventually ran into Lena Luthor (also on an extended trip there) and they hit it off.
Lex is pissed.

In Countdown Arena and alternate version of him was Superman. He was the one that Looked like Aeng from Avatar. He had the typical powers of a Kryptonian along with Telepathy and Energy Absorbtion/Manipulation.
He could also transform into a Solar Giant Form thingy

Well, they did it with Birthright, in an attempt to make the Supes comics more like the Smallville TV show. *shudder*

speaking of Smallville. The Geoff Johns writtenLegion episode will mark the first time in several years that i've watched the show. Is it just me or did every episode Ever!! feature Clark whining about Lana?
Since Geoff is writing it, the Legion will hopefully stay true to character.

DC and Marvel has done that before and since. "Birthright" does owe part of it's existence to "Smallville" and there is a bit of a hint with the Clark and Lex relationship as well as the existence of Lionel Luthor. But, DC had that relationship prior to "Smallville", back during the Silver and Broze ages. And DC was beginning to move Superman back towards that era before the show began. The only thing the show did was make it well documented to those not in the known.

No, because none of the writers were aware of what was going to be the story of "Superman Returns", including it's revelation with Jason. Unlike Marvel, DC has almost no contact with the writers and directors of the film division. DC has only had contact with the folks who have produced the DCAU from 1992-2006 and the DC animated films from Warner Premire. The story of Chris Kent was done because it was a plot point for "Last Son" and emphasising the fact that Clark and Lois cannot have a child together. That's what they have given up for their love. Chris was used as a means of re-introducing Zod and the other Phantom Zone villains and given what Johns has said, the story of Chris Kent is not over yet.

I think a good alternative to saddling Clark with being the father would be to have him go to the 30th century and join the Legion, where he can be raised by a family of heroes who are Clark's old friends growing up. It would be a nice ending for Chris that doesn't entail throwing him into the Phantom Zone and it would keep the status quo of Clark and Lois from being radically changed.

The stench of that is what kept me away. Teen angst, but with super strength. Ick. Superman doesn't WHINE.

I read the Last Son arc over the past 2 days, enjoyed it so much.
I'd love to see Christopher appear, a role like Superboy would be great IMO.
Put it this way, I'd rather see him appear as SUperboy than I would Damian appear as Robin, haha.
