The title pretty much says it all. I went in tonight and was fired. I can't say I wasn't expecting it. I'm a pretty surly individual. And while I was really good at my job and a very worker. I'm quite unpleasant to work with and had many many enemies there. I know you are all very shocked.

I still have my second job which pays 8 bucks an hour at about 24 to 48 hours a week. I should be getting about 2000 from my 401k at the first job. probably less but hopefully more than 1500. I'm gonna use it to pay for my car for the rest of the year, I have a month paid at my new place and then I'm probably gonna move out. I'm selling my comic collection. My DVDs, my TV my five disk DVD player with surround sound my library with the exception of a few choice books. All of it is going bye bye unless I can get the temp service i work for to find me a better paying steadier job. If not I pay what bills I can and live out of the back of my blazer. My second job has a shower in the men’s room. I've been sleeping in my blazer on the nights I work to save gas.

I've been thinking of living like this for a while now. Now I have a reason to. I'll still be about to get online occasionally. There is a really good library in Whiteland which isn't far from where I work. I may also purchase a cheap laptop the day after thanksgiving and steal internet from hotels.

I'm really at peace with this decision. That place drove me nuts and had me wanting to slash my wrists daily. That's another thing. I swore if I lost this job I'd kill my self. Losing a job is heart wrenching. Disappointing family and my self. But I think I'm gonna be okay. I've got a niece coming at the end of august and I don't want to miss that.

This will make me a better person. I will change my life style. I'm gonna start writing again. I'm gonna be the person I need to be to get my life back on track.

I'm just letting you know you're going to get whacked hard on your 401k. There will be a penalty for taking it early and then you will have to pay taxes on it next year as income. And you might only get like $1250 instead of $1500.

I had to google 401K until I realized that it's just the American version of RRSPs or CSBs.

You've lost a job that sucked and what you hated, and you're determined to use this as an opportunity to kickstart your life?

Rock on!

Yeah I knew that thanks. I've been in this position before except I quit instead of got fired. I only had like 1000 in and ended up with 400 this time I have about 4000 with two loans for 1000 that i have been making payments on. Thanks for letting me know though.

I'm really sorry about the job, saint, but you have a good attitude at least so this will be a fresh start for you.

I made baby wipes for a living. The other job is plastic injection molding.

I second that emotion. I went through the same thing a few years back, and am all the better for it. Good luck to you, my Hangman Buddy.

Too bad about the job, but given how much you hated it, seems like this a good thing and you'll have a better attitude towards life and the future. If this is the catalyst for the positive change you need, then keep on keeping on and keep on pushing.

As much as I'm happy your not down about losing the job and all...I am worried about you saying you'll live in your car. Its a dangerous fucked up world we live in now and sleeping in your car is dangerous enough if some wacko is out there.

Do you have any friends or family in the area ? Perhaps you could get some friends to share rent on a place. Thats my suggestion. I barely know ya Saucy but knowing how fucked up people are you could be woke up and be car jacked by some idiot in the middle of the night or worse.

Or ya could buy an RV. And park it in a park or place and sleep in it...

dont worry so much, it had to happen at some point, did you really want to do one thing for the rest of your life.

look into either transfering or liquidating the 401k if you do liquidate put that money away and forget all about it until you need it ( also 401k's are as fickle as employment, unless you are secure in your line of work i'd look into a Roft IRA. just look into it, worst case scenerio you learn it isn't right for you)

as for your resume' get it in order, don't worry about it if you don't know how, it's nothing a little time, and an internet access cant fix.

if you lack experiance and are eligible to recieve unemployment benefits, i suggest volunteering as you seek new employment.
volunteering is good it helps you build experiance, it keeps you in the rythem of life, and it looks good on a resume' because it shows that you are hard working, reliable, intrerested in helping others, and that you don't/didn't spend your time unemployed playing video games and smoking dope.

also remember, that in an interview, most times, the answer is in the question.

Best of luck.

don't cash out the 401K. . as DJim said, you'll get hit w/ a whopping (37% I believe) penalty, AND have to deal with it on taxes.

see if you can roll it into a personal IRA (assuming your 2nd job doesn't offer a 401K plan). . . that way you won't have to pay any taxes on it.

true i didn't stress that enough, liquidate only if the other alternastive is to lose it all together,
