Marvel 2009 X-Event Teasers

An image was involving Marvel's 2009 was shown, and it looks like it will have something to do with the X-Men :smile: . I was going to describe it but, I'll let you see it with your own eyes and tell me what you think this all means!

Well, Cyclops really has no use for a gun, so I have to assume it isn't related.

There aren't many Marvel heroes who use guns. We have to assume it isn't Skrull related. Doesn't look Cosmic or Magic related, either.

'X' could mean X-Men. It could mean 'X' marks the spot. Since the gun isn't exacly a high tech piece, could it be something to do with time travel?

Western was my initial response, too. Possibly noir, yes, but it looks more like some kind of 1602 concept set in the Old West, to me.

No-one ever seems to explain what exactly the rest of the universe is supposed to do for the X-Men. They seem to spend their existence refusing any and all offers of help and then blaming everyone else when things don't go as hoped.

I said it in the other thread that was created a few days ago. I believe that its pretty much the X-teams vs. the rest of MU (at least Tony Stark and gang). Hence the "They're against us" tagline.

The whole reason for the western references is IMO because the X-Men have moved "west" to SF and possibly there's something to do with that big move that's going to be in the centre of it all. Not sure what though.

As for the X-person in the centre of it all, possibly Wolverine as he's a part of the Avengers, and my guess is that he'll take a stand with the X-Men and against his "other" teammates.

In any case, that's just a guess. Interesting to see that its generating some hype though. :biggrin:

Nah, marvel chief editor doesn't like mutants geting in the way of the rest of the marveluniverse. Anything else is just excuses wrapped in a storyline (and usually a weak one). Like X-men Civil War, like Decimation.

I'd love to see the x-men versus the rest of the marvel universe. I hope we'll see at least a partial mutant repowerment and I hope we'll see the Intiative ****ing their pants because san francisco is overrunning with mutants who flip their middlefinger at the SHRA. It's about bloody time for it.

Quicksilver has gone straight. His solo story done not too long ago had him get his speed powers back to normal and he was saying how thankfull he is to get his life back in order and vowed to become a better person. I don't think he'd be getting a bloody police badge on him anytime soon.

Another tagline accompanying the female image is, "I want to be good"....wouldn't be too offbase if it were Magneto, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch....
Then again, the first 2 images could be X-Men images and the third being Magneto in some position of authority against the X-men.....exciting nonetheless.

It's obvious that the first one is Cyclops, and the hair seems to reveal the second on is Rogue. With that in mind, the third one pretty much has to be Magneto given the colours.

I wonder if this has to do with what Rich Johnston rumoured about a follow-up to Inferno by CB Cebulski next year? One would tend to assume that would probably be the big event tying up a lot of the magic stuff that's been going on in the MU this year.

These images don't seem to fit that, though - they seem a lot darker, more noirish and grounded in reality than a magic story.

Perhaps more will be revealed this weekend at SDCC.

well the vulcan bit is sortof insular, it isn't a huge event. it isn't annhiliation 3 (i dont think). jenkins thing could be anything (sentry related probably, and probably not a large scale event either). the inhuman SI tie in leads to something? that won't be huge either. the x-men event may not take place in the 616 who knows, it might be self-contained too. the teaser images are x-related, though they may be their own thing, not the inferno one (which might be more of an anniversary style revamp like AOA). so it seems there is one (maybe) huge x-related event coming, that might be next year's WWH. but probably not even that.

Though i hate that marvel hasnt said anything else. The only other problem/fear i got with this is that Marvel is gonna build up so much hype, and then when this arc comes out its gonna be lame/confusing/nonsense.

From looking at the artists webpage, I got the impression he drew Psylocke to simply draw Psylocke. He also has a picture of the New X-Men kids, only I don't really recognize any of the kids. I hope I'm wrong, I really like how Betsy looks in his depiction.

I think the latest one from IGN is WOLVERINE.

I think they're just stylized.
Photoshop filters can eaily be used to create RED (oh puns!) herrings.

The third one looks like Wolverine to me with the grin and the cowlick. Just because it's filtered white doesn't mean it's a white-haired person.

The girl is not "obviously" Rogue. A wisp of white doesn't make her Rogue. And her hand is exposed (see the painted fingernails?) which is unlike her.

The first one, again, I don't feel is "obviously" Cyclops because of a red filter on the glasses.

They're just highly stylized pieces, with splashes of color to make them "pop." Obviously the latest one has the most color, but I don't think these characters are Cyclops, Rogue, OR Magneto.

But that's my take.

I dunno, the styling is basically identical, unlike the NXM sketch.

i agree.....this is getting some heavy hype very early. i recall writers saying that the X-Men would clash with other heroes....especially Iron Man and crew..due to their move to San Fran. Perhaps this is it.

It's probably because of the "SF rejects the initiative".
