Hmm, so Ink isn't a complete A-Hole. He at least refuses to kill.

My guess why they keep Donald Pierce's face in shadow. He's still wearing Cyclops' face.

Why does Santo say... Four vs. One, when there's clearly only three of them there?

(Is this where Guggenheim shows up and says, "Good boy."?)

So he does have a heart, the size of it is questionable, but still.

I'm not sure I am liking Wolf Cub though... he just disembowled Magma. But I am intrigued to read the rest of the issue, now.

Well, she did turn Dust to Glass. Magma sorta deserved it.

Though she does have an excellent point about Sooraya's name not really being accurate.

I thought the glass part was cool, interesting use of Amara's powers. Besides we already know that Sooraya will be alright.

Yeah, but Guggenheim's teased she may have to change her codename.

So my guest she either adopts "Sand", which would probably cause some racial grumbling.

Or she keeps her new glass form and powers and adopts the name "Glass", which would be cool.

It's implied that he ripped open her back with his claws.

A couple of things bother me while looking at the preview:

Wolfcub slashing Magma and it Works - I don't think Wolfcub would be able to slash Magma unconscious and still be able to keep his hand. It would have made more sense if Rockslide was able to knock her out since he's made of rock and he doesn't have to worry about burning himself while touching her.

That "Four Against One" line - Probably a common typo error, still Guggenheim should have double check on that...

Dust turning into Glass(I'm assuming that's temporary)- The fight looked cool though Guggenheim bother not change Dust's powers and/or form.

Ink going to lose his hair- I still don't understand why Guggenheim is going make Ink become bald. At least I know he's not a total jerk when he says he's not killer.

-DI'm wondering if Wolf Cub has a healing factor or if him just saying "It'll grow back" means the burn wasn't that bad.

"Four against one?" when there's three of them? Did Santo count himself twice?

Infact, this group had a mysterious two Rockslides last issue aswell when Cyclops said TO ROCKSLIDE "You Rockslide, and Santo and Dust and Wolf Cub".

I like Nicks new codename on page 3 too - "Wol Fcub"...sloppiness all around.

Guggs missed a "holy crap" moment in favour of holy "God" when Santo discovered glass Dust. And did Rockslide really say "bodacious bod"?!

What's the big deal with Dusts codename anyway? Does Cyclops really have one eye?

What with annoying errors, questionable content and continually sub par art, I can't get behind this book at all.

Yeah but "Invisituity" couldn't be with Blindfold/Ink at Danis hut and with Rockslide etc at the same time.

Another thing, Rockslide is all cocky about going up against Magma yet in the last issue, seconds before this, he's all "I'm starting to wish we bought Cyclops with us"...

Maybe we can put all the mistakes with numbers, inconsistant attitudes and whatnot down to the mysterious invisible entity!

He kinda does when he uses his visor.

I'm loving Ink as a bad guy and I'm also liking how there are lines he doesn't cross (for now).

Its too bad we know Dust will be okay (not that its really bad, but I mean...we just kinda know her fate), but I'm loving how this is playing out.

AND...

Anyway, Young X-Men isn't my favorite title, but its the one I most anticipate reading because I'm really expecting some risks, twists, and turns.

Amara says Sooraya wasn't appropriately named. Beast had big hands and feet when he was given his codename. There was nothing "Beast"ly about him. (even if his footie mates called him it).

Clearly, the polarizing variable in Ink's character is his hair.

When we first saw Ink, he had no hair, and he was hated by all.

Now, he has hair and people like him.

A woman whose body becomes superheated to the temperature of magma i.e. 700°C to 1300°C...

Taken down, in her superheated form, by a castrated version of wolverine who appears to have had an inexplicable growth spurt and personality bypass since his previous New X-men appearances’..

I'm sorry. But no. No way. Not going to happen. That's almost as daft as a giant bullet flying through space to destroy the earth.

Next you'll tell me Sentry will fly really fast around the earth and turn back time.
That every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings (or looses 'em...)

I hope not, if Selene and Wither's story isn't taken on by a book with either Mercury or Hellion, something is very wrong in the X-Office... they'd be ignoring the central plot points to Wither leaving in the first place.

If either come into this book, then it might be warranted (despite my wishes, I'm still not very enthused by this book, while issue two was better than the previous... I'd rather see this story in X-Force... Hellion and Mercury would kick much ass there.)

We are forces of opposing nature, you and me Hakael.

Anyway, yeah I think Mercury should be a part of Wither's ongoing story, but if Selene is still recruiting her emo kid army then she doesn't need to be part of the buildup to the eventual showdown.

Hellion...didn't care when Wither left, right?

And I love X-Force, but I don't want to see any other kids join up (except Josh). What's special about Rahne's role is she's the one with "innocence" and what's special about X-23's role is that she's being robbed of her innocence. Both of their current paths have interested me more in them than any other time thus road blocks to their respective downward spirals must be avoided!

I think Hellion would provide a good emotional challenge to Laura in X-Force... her downward spiral is more of a continuance of her previous nature without him around. C&C have already said they don't want to use Cess in that book because she's too nice, and they hope that she's picked up elsewhere. I do too... I love me some Mercury.

Hellion was one of the reasons why Kevin ran off in the first place, he was the leader of their team and they were friends to an extent... I think Julian should be involved in the story Kevin shows up in because of that. Wither was his responsibility at a time, and bringing that back into play would be useful. And, I don't trust this book to handle the storyline yet... talk to me in three months and I might feel different, but so far this book hasn't really been up to snuff.

Wouldn't his hand, like... burn off? Her magma form is hot enough to melt bullets before they hit her.

Oh well, it's comics.
Naw. Don't let them off the hook so easily. This was rubbish. Pure and simple. And Guggenheim and Paquette need to be taken to task for it. Egads, what a disaster this book is turning out to be.
Amara was just pointing out that she doesn't turn into dust...which she doesn't.
Just what is it that you and Amara think dust is? Dust is any tiny particles of solid material that can be blown about in the wind. Sand is dust.

Yeah, but Guggenheim's teased she may have to change her codename.

So my guest she either adopts "Sand", which would probably cause some racial grumbling.

Or she keeps her new glass form and powers and adopts the name "Glass", which would be cool.

The big problem with that, is the fact that in order for her to convert herself into glass, I would think that she'd need a heat source to do so. Magma was the catalyst for her transformation this time, but what about in the future? ...I just don't see "glass powers" happening. Besides, how effective can she be in battle against someone with super strength?

So when you go to the beach..it's just the ocean and dust? What about the desert. Do you find oasis among the dust? Sure if you want to get scientific about it dust usually contains sand in some amount among other particles, but sometimes it doesn't even contain sand at all. It's a stupid term that barely describes Sooraya.

(And I don't even care, I like the Dust codename, and I highly doubt anyone is going to change it.)

I keep remembering that issue of Spider-Man where Doc Ock shot the Sandman with a gun that turned him to glass, then smashed him. He thought that was the end of it, but Sandman managed to piece himself together and fired all his glass shards at Ock at once, almost killing him.

That was pretty badass, but it's not really Dust's style. Plus, you're right, she'd either have to stay glass (and thus never return to human form) or find an intense heat source every time.

Now that I think of it, she COULD use solar energy to convert herself into glass. With the grains of silica in her sand particles, she could concentrate a group of them together like a magnifying glass, then use the sun's heat rays to convert the rest of her body to glass... I guess that's feasible.

but what exactly would she do once in glass form?

Nothing. She couldn't do anything. It'd be pointless.

She could blind people by reflecting light off of herself, no?

I want to see a character who can turn others into glass.

Remember during the House of M when Sooraya was able to control sand that wasn't a part of her body?

It'd be cool if after this... experience, she finally could learn how to do that and also control glass as well. If she could make large pieces of glass move at the speeds she goes in Dust form then that'd be pretty scary.

i feel really bad for Dani, she got kicked out of the xmen since she didnt have powers (no counceling or support) and they havent left her alone since everytime she turns around someone is breaking up her walls or tryin to fight her...

I agree... But for sake of entertaining the few that considered it as a potential secondary mutation for Dust, I just provided a means in which she could convert her body into glass... But like you said, what's the point.

She could become a glass monster. Or turn tear people to shreds like she does in sand form.

...That's the thing, if she can already do that in sand form, why does she need to convert into glass?

I dunno...I really like seeing X-23 deal with things that don't involve learning to love a boy and then when he rejects her...she cuts herself. Her with regular teen issues never really resonated with me. I think I finally got her as character seeing her removed from that and dealing with things like the value of someone like Rahne's life.

Nothing. She couldn't do anything. It'd be pointless.

Have you stepped on glass??????

Its quite the betch (I really hate not cursing. Its bad enough I can't call people a [b-word], but to not say it for real!!! it hurts).

I doubt she'd be able to change between forms, once she returns to sand she probably won't be able to be glass again.

But a few powers she could possibly have in a glass form:

Magnified vision
Reshaping glass limbs into blades and stuff (ala Mercury)
Channeling heat/light

Maybe she could shift between hollow and solid form too, making her more durable.

Or she might get shattered and killed at the start of every fight like Prism from the Marauders. :frown:

But in my mind she'd just be able to reform herself, like she can reform from turning into tiny sand grains.

I had a glass character in a story I was writing once
