I never read the book and I'm wondering about how the new miniseries seems to be changing her costume and some things about her character and physique. Will that be affecting BOP's portrayal of Bertinelli?

She's still in BOP and apparently now the hero to Misfit. The mini is part retcon/part fill-in-the-blanks so it remains to be seen how it will affect the character ultimately. We'll know in five months when it's done what changes have been made. One we know is coming is that The Huntress will be a lawyer instead of a school teacher, because Ivory Madison (a lawyer) preferred it. It's what Helena Wayne, the original Earth-2 Huntress does.

Ivory Madison said that if she got a new on-going she'd like Huntress to become a attorney because that's what Helena Wayne was. But nothing is set in stone. DC and Ivory Madison, who I hope will get an on-going, will have to do what's in the best interest of the character and having her become a lawyer might or might not be it. And at the end of the day, Helena Bertinelli is not Helena Wayne.

It sounds like DC hired Ivory to smoosh both Helena's into one.

Nope Helena Wayne (Daughter of Batman and Catwoman) still exists in the mutliverse (Earth-2)

I sure the hell hope not too. They are two separate character that just happen to share the same name. I am so sick of DC and AOL Time Warner confusing characters (and copyright) with names. A character is more than a name. From Halle Berry as Catwoman to Huntress in the BoP TV show, they seem to just use the name and not give two craps about the characters and their history of stories.
Also.. juggling man, you need to check out BoP.

Huntress is part of the Birds of Prey. She is the field leader on the team.

I have checked it out, a few issues back in... 03-04? something like that. I was intrigued but it didn't turn my crank that much.
Any particular run you recommend I should look into?

Erg. Having read it from issue 1, it's tough. Not sure what of Chuck Dixon's original run is collected. That was good. Gail Simone's run was good and is when Huntress joined up. I know they have most all of her run in trade. I'm enjoying the current run. Not sure when Bedard started. He switched off for a bit, but now he's back.
It should go without saying, but avoid the TV show llike the plauge. It's an insult to both Earth 1 and Earth 2 Huntress fans, nevermind Oracle, Batman, or any DC fan. It was a bad Mutant X knock off, not a Gotham set show.

Well you seem to be a big Huntress fan and I always enjoyed the "Dawn Before Dark" (#69-#75)arc. It's collected in Trade. It featured Huntress heavily and I was really impressed with the way Gail wrote her. I felt she had a good grasp on what made Helena tick. The art was great during that arc as well. I don't know how other fans felt about that story but I can't help but think if you're a Huntress fan you wouldn't be pleased.
I don't know if you read the "Whitewater" arc (#104-#108) featuring the Secret Six, but it that was one of the most entertaining stories I've read in a while. Plus there was some really nice Huntress and Catman interaction that will make you want more.
I'd also encourage you to check out Tony Bedard's run. I think he'll be doing big things with the BIRDS. Plus he's got the characterization of the women down. He mentioned a little while back in his forum here on CBR that #119 would begin with a cool Huntress scene and we'd get to see some more of Helena's day-job as his run got going. I know this Birds and Huntress fan is excited!
