Now how come none of you told me about this? Did you just happen to let it slip your mind? Huh? What's that? Speak up.....I hold you all personally responsible for this. One more fumble like this, and I gurantee you, someone might get hurt next time. I mean this guy is awesome and I should have been told about him.

Awwwww, his hands are so tiny.
Hey, anyone know if I can get someone to change my name for me? Or do I have to re-register all over again?
I need it to be changed to "Irredeemable_JayMan", or "The_Irredeemable_JayMan" if it's not too many letters.

this seems like a trap. but you can get your name changed in the community forum, iirc. i think there's an actual 'name change request' thread. glad you found Ant-Man. he reaches a level of awesome somewhere in between boobs and bacon.

You can only have your name changed to your real name. Them be the rules!
Mr O' Grady certainly is one of the best things to come out fo recent Marvel years. So sad that his series got canned...

I'm going to find out more about these RULES you speak of..
Yeah that sucks, but atleast Ant-Man gave me a reason to read more comics. I mean I had to get some of The Initiative books cause Ant-Man made some brief appearances, now I actually like that book. I even went out of my way to get earlier issues to find out who the f$#% this "MVP" was. It's an alright book. It's even got Taskmaster in it, he's rockin his skelator look (sucks), but he's still in there. Doesn't look like he's leavin anytime soon either. Taskmaster and Ant-Man..double bonus.

If anyone deserves to get the Ant-Man/O'Grady name it should be you. You've been preaching the gospels of Irredeemable Ant-Man for a while now. Hmm... I wonder what would be a good nickname for the group of us O'Grady fans?
Now if only more people would discover awesomeness of Shortpack as well...

You can have O'grady or whatever..lol I just want my s#$% to say the Irredeemable_JayMan. Because I'm the Jay-Man and I pretty much can't redeem myself. Unless I spent a few Christmas' feeding the homeless, then yeah, I think I'd be redeemed.

It's really too bad Irredeemable Ant-Man was cancelled. At one point it was my second favorite series. Eric is one of the more interesting superheroes to say the least.

Yeah, really good title, actually. The first digest was... eh... halfway between "good" and "great."
Based on creators and concept, I was absolutely prepared to hate it, too.

speaking of your avatar, i'm quite surprised that Kirkman didn't give Pym a larger role in the book; even as an antagonist. but it is a unique situation in that Pym doesn't like his own successor. how often does that happen?

I only read the hulk issue at a friends house, didnt like it much. Though i have to admit i didnt know beforehand what i was going to read (thought it was a true wwh tie in) and i am usually a sucker for Deadpool so perhaps i will give it another shot while i wait for Deadpool ongoing.

I loved the series.
I actually pulled the comics out of my storage recently to give them another read, suprisingly they were still extremely laugh out loud funny. There just are not enough cool superheros out there (playing wii obviously the definition of 'in.') Could you imagine Reed and Doom playing?

Hulk issue was the worst issue (but still fun) and not indicative of the series. ask anyone who read all 12 issues. if you ever get the chance, i suggest you read a few of the issues before the Hulk issue. never judge a book by a crossover issue.

maybe there wouldn't be so much animosity between them if they did. and what is it with Eric befriending villains? :D

Yeah, ultimately Ant-Man's stories felt a little rushed and quick from jumping issue to issue the way they did.
I mean classic early Ant-Man would have left his run on WORLD WAR HULK by leaving a battle with Hulk to go steal or spy on chicks. As oppose to tryin to be all heroic for no reason. We all knew Ant-Man wasn't going to take the hulk down. So that was kind of a waste of an issue.
Although it would have been awesome if Ant-Man was one of the last heroes left since all the others got crushed, and if Deadpool was one of the last ones left too cause he didnt even care about fighting the hulk. So they both get called up to take the Hulk down, Deadpool distracts the Hulk, Ant-Man shrinks down and crawls up Hulks nose and into his skull, only to stab his brain with some sort of chemical that puts the hulk out lmao..
I woulda liked that ending better

I have a rather strange reaction to Ant-Man. I actually don't like the character at all, but I really enjoyed the series. The stories, the supporting cast and the situations O'grady found himself in were interesting, but I never liked O'Grady himself.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. The series was written really well, and the art was fun but I found myself only reading the issues in the hopes that O'Grady would be killed, or squashed or something. It really says something that I prefer Hank Pym the Wasp puncher over this prick.

that's not a strange reaction. it's why Kirkman added the supporting cast. the fun is seeing Eric screw up the lives of all of these likable characters around him.

well, it's just my opinion but your opinion is lame. how in the world could you like Pym more? Eric's a douchebag but he's honest about it. he's advertised as being irredeemable/unlikable. Pym is just as much of an a-hole but undercover. he thinks that he has been unjustly labeled and will whine about it. Eric knows that he's kind of a bad guy and isn't suprised at all when karma gets the better of him. that's why i can get behind him as a character. there's nothing worse than a poseur. Hank's a poseur. he wants people to see him as a hero when he's really just a spineless creep. guy couldn't even stop from beating up his wife.

That's certainly the common misconception about Hank Pym, and one that Bendis and co. like to present. It's not entirely accurate, but that doesn't stop the current Marvel regime from presenting him as such.
Personally, I was always more of a Scott Lang fan myself. Interesting character with a criminal past whose trying to better himself for the sake of his young daughter. What's not to admire about that.
I think my problem with O'Grady was that he was too unlikeable. He really didn't have any redeeming characteristics whatsoever. Now, I understand that this was Kirkman's intent, but it didn't work for me. Seeing a glorified fratboy bumming around with superpowers didn't really hold my interest. It's a credit to Kirkman's writing that the title generally held my interest despite the main character.

well, you already know what i think of Scott Lang. as for Eric's redeeming characteristics. i think it's obvious that his ultimate goal was to make his own life easier. it's not admirable but relatable. he did love Abigail. her empathic abilities confirmed this. he did step in to save people even when it involved risk to himself (that girl trapped under the rubble). he did do his best to help Monstro out and wanted his friendship. he did miss Chris. he did save Nick Fury. he did bail the Black Fox out and humor the man constantly. and he did all of that while being ruled by fear and selfishness. and i think it's almost unfair to call Eric a fratboy. that would suggest that he's about fitting in somewhere to have fun. Eric was an outcast. he had an awful reputation at SHIELD. his parents moved away w/o leaving a forwarding address. Chris' mother told him that he should have died. i think Eric's redeeming trait is his overall awkwardness. his sense of right and wrong is so skewed that i almost feel sorry for him. he systematically lost all of the people that were there to steer him in the right direction and still managed to pull off a few sparse moments of heroism. Eric's an underdog...undermutt.

This is why the series was awesome and why O'Grady deserves a continued place in the Marvel universe.
