Tatsunoko is the anime industry that has worked on Gatchaman, Speed Racer, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Samurai Pizza Cats and other popular animes. Personally I’m hoping for at least one character from Samurai Pizza Cats. :biggrin:

I don’t really care either way but I can’t really see how they’d work that out. Maybe do as they did with Jin in Marvel vs Capcom having the mecha appear for special attacks? Personally I’m hoping for some characters from God Hand and Devil May Cry. Also finally an updated 2D sprite for Morrigan if she’s in it I mean.

I don't know. The rights to a lot of these characters could potentially be all over the place and could make a US release impossible. Not to mention that the Tatsunoko characters don't have the kind of pull with US fans that the Marvel characters did.

Not saying it's impossible... I just don't think it is a sure thing.

They don't own Evangelion, they only provided some of the animation for the series. Evangelion is owned by Gainax, so no worries on that front

Alright. My problem was that, other than Asuka, they would make horrible fighters.

Considering that the other crossover announced this year was Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, this is good news. We probably won't see it in the United States due to companies holding rights and all that (which is why I'll never get to play the Jump Stars series unless I can import it).

Oh, and to comment on the thread starter, there was another set of Capcom vs. games after Marvel 2. It was called "Capcom vs. SNK", and it involved mostly Street Fighter characters fighting the King of Fighters characters with two enemies from Metal Slug and Ghouls 'n' Goblins and Zero appearing.

If this comes to the PS3, and I assume it will, I'll probably import it. Unfortunately, I sincerely doubt it will make it to the U.S. with all the licensing conflicts of the various properties involved. Still, pretty exciting, and potentially worth the costs of importing, at least for me anyway.

Except the one in this game is a cult favorite too. Legends did not set the world on fire...

And the one in that Onimusha game... Cult favorite: EXE/NT Warriors.

The Zero that was in SVC Chaos... Another cult favorite: Megaman Zero.

So, by all means, if those other series were used, MMX should have a turn, seeing how it's the second longest running MM series.

Different timeline. MMZ is a what if scenario of the MMX series (a spin off of Zero's MMX5 ending).

As I understand it, it goes MM->MMX->MMZ->MMZX->MML (according to a Capcom sourcebook).

The X series was supposed to end after the 5th one, but Capcom decided to continue it, which screwed up the continuity a bit. But the only ones that take place in an alternate timeline are Battle Network/Star Force.

The Megaman and Street Fighter storylines are a mess.

Tatsunoko VS Capcom announced for the Wii in Japan at least. Release date is December 11, 2008. The Wii version will have new mini-games and exclusive characters not found in the arcade version, including PTX-40A, Karas and Hakushon Daimaou from the Tatsunoko side.

If this comes out in the US and EU I really have to consider buying a Wii.

i got a chance to play it for a few hours at Evo. it took me 10 minutes to gt used to the animations for the supers. but all in all i liked it.
